Great meeting you today. Will have to do it again when we both have more time to shoot the breeze. We got into Ks and should deliver tomorrow if all goes well.

Hey Randy! I just sat down and was going to post the same thing and you beat me to it. I really enjoyed putting a face to you.

Hey guys - I met Randy (slpwlker), his wife, and his trusty dog Buster today. He called me when he was heading through here on I-70 and we met at Gaspers in Kingdom City for a little meet and greet. But guess what he showed up in?

In case you do not know from the pic - he was driving a pete! The American flag on the front helps, but it is not the same as a bulldog

I was greatly offended, but he and his wife were such nice folks that I am willing to overlook it. He was hauling a track hoe (as in Caterpillar, not Jackie Joyner Kersey).

I inspecting his chains, admired his TRAILER, talked about hauling, and I even crawled under his pete to check out his new 23,000 pound front axle and best of all, I got to meet Buster

We got to laughing about the fact that we both went there to meet so we could talk about how great Mack trucks are, but he showed up in a pete and I showed up in a Mitsubishi:

Thanks for stopping Randy - call me anytime you are heading through so I can try and twist your arm to buy a Mack! Next time I will show up in the DM and leave the Jay-pan truck at home under the porch.

lol yep. I've shown her a 2 stick 6 before but she doesn't remember. Probably just wants to check out something different. I know one thing after getting beat to death in a spring ride truck she will appreciate the air ride

That's great that the two (four) of you could hook up. That's a very nice Pete and...yes that is a Mitsubishi.

Buster looks like he's a good kid.

I appreciate the compliment. Buster is the best. Had him since he was 4 weeks old and he has been with me in trucks since then. He is 7.5 now. You can tell whos dog he is even though Ann feeds him. He is all my dog. But he lovveesssssssssssssssssssss People. not to found of other animals though

There was an article, maybe in Overdrive, on pets that live on the road such as Buster. It stated that it was best to raise the pet from a pup/kitten in that enviroment.

Some people frown on the idea, but truckers are the some of the most loving pet owners I've ever seen.

Olivetroad I tried e-mailing you a few pics of my log truck but not sure if you got them (sorry to hijack)

No - I did not - please send them to: olivetroad@gmail.com - I have wanted to see the hyd holding valve you used

I will also check my spam filter box - don't take it personally! I have no idea of the criteria "she" uses to decide if someone is spammable or not!

I got him alittle to early but he has turned into one of the best dogs I have ever had. He is hard headed sometimes. Protective when we are in the bunk, And full of licks. I definatley love my dog. He is the first male I have ever had. I couldn't of gotten a better dog thats for sure

Those cat machines are being hauled down highway 50 here in southern illinois daily, dont know if you took that route but i bet i see 25-40 of them a day due to roadwork on the interstate ..I cant believe the amount of oversize loads ive seen in the last 6 to 8 months... All cat machinery ...And thanks for the story

Love the trailer, love the Pete too. Pretty much can haul anything with that rig, long deck and axled to the hilt. Must be 90+ feet? Escort?

Thanks. Nope just around 88'9 to 89'9 depending on where I place the 5th wheel with the stinger down. 79'7 in this config and 74'5 as a 7 axle. Only have 25' in the well but I haul damn near everything I go after. Would like 26 or 27. I do have a hard time sometimes getting weight to the back and off the drives and steer when I put much over 100k on. Only 2 or 3 states I need escorts for for length. Tn over 85', Al over 78' Md for weight. and I think Ny over 80' but I don't get there much. I lucked out for being a long Wb truck

Looked like a 30' deck. I hauled a Talbert, 30' deck quad Canadian spread but I had tandem on the truck, was 81+ Maine is 79'11" then it's an escort. The trailer was 9'6" wide too, made loading nice on alot of machines. I got stopped in upstate NY empty. DOT followed me for miles, finally over the cb, you the Pete with the flames, yep, why don't you pull over in the parking lot on the left, can I fit? Yep.. He gets out, "you need a permit for that thing, yep, and handed it to him, it was for the width, your all set, and he escorted me to the pickup sight. I was over length and he never checked. 80 90' is a bear in places in the northeast. Even some interstate ramps I can't use, they aren't big enough. Nice when he escorted me through that small town, he stopped traffic and I got the whole road right through down town.

Sweet. that always works when you get escorted. Md started some stuff last week and it lasted 1 week. They changed what a super load was from 150k on interstate to 130k so you need police. After 1 week they where so over run that they resinded that and this past Monday was the last day. Of course I was not the lucky one to not need a cop. They have there perks thats for sure. Hell the truck is 294" Wb

There were oversize loads parked overnight on the shoulder of eb I-68 at the WV-MD line this past week, I'm guessing they were waiting for permits or something of that nature. The problem is that it gets very foggy up there in warmer weather and no amount of triangles and flashing lights is going to prevent the inevitable wreck if that continues. I'm hoping that the change of regulations will put a stop to that.

Yeah I did a 17 wide thru there coming out of Balitmore and it was 25 days till I got a permit. Took 8 days for a 152k permit. That state blows for doing stuff

Idk I know a bunch of stuff going to the ports or to the borders. Took a 9 out to Nogales,Az 6 months ago. I know it is moving big time

probably using them to haul illegals over , just get in the back and lay quiet the'll never know
