For comparison puposes,KC's band was flaming, and The Village People were the Sun.

I fear all the good music has already been produced.

The Village People, aw Jesus Christ man, were those idiots real? How bout "Boy George" and Culture Club? or "Tears for Fears", or any of the likes of the open degenerates of the music scene in the early 1980's?

Thank god I had Ted Nugent, UFO, Whitesnake (early), Outlaws, Kansas, Scorpions, Van Halen (early), and some of the more contemporary bands of the timeframe to get me through.

Remember the flaming faggots that went by KC and the Sunshine Band???? Gawd, just the thought of them makes me wanna PUKE!! At that time I was still jammin to Deep Purple's "Made in Japan", Boston's debut album, Rush's "2112", Dire Straits, The Eagles, Kiss "Alive", America, and other decent music like that.

Rob

Ted Nugent, Aerosmith and the Allmen Brothers along with Marshall Tucker were big in my house among the young'in, oh and Black Sabbath. Dad's younger wife introduced us to that.

1983 - Let's see if I remember how this went:

Slow dancing in the junior high gym to Total eclipse of the heart by Bonnie Tyler, trying not to rub your you know what up next to girl in arms.

Then on to the main course - Men without Hats - SAFETY DANCE!

Then they play Pass the Dutchie or some ^%$# and we all go sit down.

I remember one thing my 7th grade Social Studies teacher taught me-Bruce Springsteen is going to be huge one day. This was in 1974, before Born To Run was released. He was playin the Greeetings From Asbury Park album on one of those monophonic school record players after classes one day. The first Bruce song I ever heard was Spirit In The Night.

That weekend I was at Sam Goody's making a rare "2 album" purchase. He had since released another album-The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle. Since I had already heard Asbury Park, I played the other one first and was absolutely blown away. We may not have had ipods and digital music back then but I'd rather listen to the music from my teenage years on a transistor radio than todays crap in crisp, clean digital.

I don't want to hear any celebrity's political opinions, even if I agree with them. I know this is selfish, but if your a singer, I want to hear you sing and if your an actor, I want to see you act. Aside from that, your just another person who has their own opinons and beliefs,

Safety Dance; man did comments about them in an innapropriate place get me into some trouble. Over the microphone at a school gathering/play in which my son starred in, I announced: "Now that we are passed those peter puffin wienie washers.......

There I go, throwing up in my mouth again. I thought that surviving the Disco era would prepare me for anything. Not so.

ALERT: We've drifted slightly off topic.

We would all run around with our arms rigid (heh heh - he said Rigid) at our sides and jump up and down like we were doing the type of safety dance you are thinking of. The other cool thing to do when that came out was to draw little rigid men all over our blue jeans with a ink pen. I don't miss being 14.

That was a good movie. I like Jack Nicholson. He is so mentally stable.

It's generally agreed,MOST music from the eighties sucks! despite being born and raised in Jersey,we listened to a lot of country music,my dad was a product of the "honky tonk" era,so it was Webb Pierce,Hank Snow,Waylon Jennings etc. my grandad was a big fan of the "Chairman of the board" (Sinatra) so i was blessed with a pretty ecclectic taste in music! does'nt get any better then hearing Springsteen do "Jersey Girl" live, seen the guy like 10 times now!.............................Mark

1983? Jr. High? Still wet behind the ears there boy.

Driving a garbage truck at the time-no radio. Listened to the 230 Cummins and 13 spd.

Besides that, I was "busy". Donut shop girl, another donut shop, NatCan,FCI,MickiD's.

Oh and one from the firehouse

'bout the only music I remember. Oh yeah, one girl really liked Springsteen for...

Here is the man of the "70"s. Saw him in concert swinging on a rope in a loin cloth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3J-XYnZHfU

Sweaty Teddy in his heyday. Saw him too but he just played, loudly and seemingly unending.
