Found this photo the other day of me adjusting injector pump pressure on a 2 valve which I'm not sure if it's a 237 or bigger. Had a great time the week of schooling I had with Alan Hertzog as the instructor. Does anyone know if Mack still has classes and is Alan Herzog still there?

Looks to me like you are rotating the crankshaft for positioning of port closing time. I don't know how you would adjust injection pump pressure by the photo indication. You prolly meant injection pump timing however and this would be correct.

Little easier on an engine stand eh?

Back in 88 my hairline had receeded just back of my ears. It was all gone and I started shaving my skull in 95. Then I got the bump that looked like a point evened out of my cranial area in 99. After the scars healed and the redness went away, I looked about 1/2 way normal.

You was adjusting the satic timing and that is i think a 315 HPA very good engine in its time.

Hey Glenn, were all those 315 engines red? Mine is also and is a 1980.

It looks like it could be a 300 - 300+ or early 350, it has a two stage charge air cooler, you can see the coolant lines on the water pump housing and the front of the oil cooler. Ron

Yea your right Rob injection pump timing, I found my notes too. Thanks for the great posts. My hair doo is pretty funny now for sure.

i know all the history but i need to know about how to work on em. i know where all the nuts and bolts are and how to put oil and diesel in em, bu thats it.

That's where you start Vinny. I did the same as a boy and an old farmer next to our farm told me anything that has a joint or swivels has a grease fitting and I would spend hours greasing all his equipment and my Dad's too. Handing Dad all his spanners as he worked on equipment taught me a lot on fractions.

When they first came out in 1975,they were painted copper.1980 was the year they went to that ugly red/orange for all engines,because of some EPA thing with Maxidyne gold.Then they went to light blue,then gray.

Thanks Mike, all my Maxidyne engines were gold, then this red engine which is a 1980, and my E6-350 is light blue. As I understand when this 315 engine of mine was inframed, it had new cylinder heads installed and they are dark gray.

I just noticed this was in 1988, so the semi-mullet you be sportin' is okay when viewed from a historical standpoint.

Semi-mullets may have been common in 1988, but they were never okay.

When they first came out in 1975,they were painted copper.1980 was the year they went to that ugly red/orange for all engines,because of some EPA thing with Maxidyne gold.Then they went to light blue,then gray.

Would that be the shade of blue on the engine to the right in the photo? I've driven three from that era, but none were blue as they were Pedigreed rebuilds IIRC.

That is not a recent photo???? Most people here in the "Show Me" state have the same hair style, my lack of hair prevents me from sporting that style look but I always liked it.

I can hook you up with a hair weave place down on Troost Ave., just don't go after dark!
