Afternoon,

New here to the group and need some help. I’m looking for a used working Tach for my 1984 R686ST. I’m also looking for a gauge for the dash that tells me how much pressure is being applied to the brakes. I’m having a real problem with spongy brakes and have replaced the proportioning valve on the frame but still have spongy brakes. The brakes do lock, but it seems to require ALOT of pressure to make this happen. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like glazed brake linings to me. This happens quite often and the coefficient of friction is reduced from the shoes into the brake drums.

A mechanical tachometer is commonplace on ebay.
