Something had been removed fairly recently off the very back of the frame. I see the PTO knob now on the dash as well.

- as soon as I saw it I threw a compliment in your direction - just like in the duck blind - GOOD EYE!

Most of the "S" series trucks were built as dumps, mixers, or straight trucks. A good portion of them were double framed. They could, or could not be tractors. My "Yella Dog" is a B61S with glad hands and was a dump trailer hauler in Chicago.

Hi Folks, I'll put in my .02 on the subject.

T = tractor

X = heavy duty

SW = six wheel or tandem straight job

P = single axle straight job

S = six wheel or tandem straight job

ST = tandem tractor

LST - light weight tandem tractor

LT = light weight single axle tractor

SWX = tandem heavy duty

There are more too.

All info is worth exactly what you paid for it. Mack did love alphabet soup!

Is that the same for the R models too? I knew it went for B models but I didn't know about other series.

Hello Bob,

It isn't a rare truck compared to how many Mack built in my opinion. I think the seller should say that it is a rare find in the sense that it is not beat to snot and would be a very good candidate for a rebuild or restore.

For that matter, it looks like with just a little tinkering you could get it on the road and have a little fun with it just the way it is.

Jim

ahhhh,gotcha,,,yes it does look that way,,,looks like its had all easy miles,,with good drivers.lol.bob

Hey Ben,

Some of the designations carried into the R models but not all. I think the use of the letters W and P got dropped.

Others will have to jump in to say for sure, but that is how I remember it.
