I don't know if it's some weird fetish, but I've always enjoyed seeing cutaway views of anything mechanical. It's the best way to really understand how something works. Whenever someone asks "What do I have to do, draw you a picture?!" I graciously accept the offer.

Are those JD bicycles worth anything?

I have no idea, I just had never seen one in person and thought it was photo worthy!

I bet at the right auction of John Deere stuff it would bring a mint.

Other than the John Deere decal, it looked like our old crappy bikes that hung from the rafters until we tired of hitting them with the combine bin extension, then they got a one way ticket to the scrap yard.

I am the same way. The day I walked into the Ag mech class room for the first day of engines class was one of the highlights of my short life. They had about 10 engines cut away with hand cranks on them to turn so you could see everything work. They had everything from a lawn mower engine to a 855 cummins. Then we got to move on to transmissions - I get butterflies when I remember it all, I am going to have to go lay down for a minute.

At MSU Northern in Havre Mt (the birth place of Big Bud Tractors) they have a train specific diesel course and I remember looking in awe at the inline 16 cylinder that had pistons the size of 5 gallon buckets and injectors nearly as big as my arm. The gentlemen that gave us the tour said something to the effect of while pulling a full load with the throttle wide open to gain speed, each cylinder would burn about 50 gallons of fuel per hour. Pretty impressive.

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

Those J D bikes are worth a good buck to the right person. Cut a ways and see through things are always a draw to me. When I was a teen the local Chevy dealer had a Corvair with a turbo and a clear deck lid to show it off. Cool collection there!!

Any Caravans there?? :whistling:

No, and I mean a big NO! I think they don't even allow people driving Caravans to enter the building.

If we weren't long lost family, they would have kicked us hayseeds out as well.

The only thing I saw there that would haul a van load of folks in the high style of a Chrysler minivan would be one of these Rolls Royces:

I kept wishing I had a set of leashes to put the kids on so I could give anyone about to touch a car a big yank on their respective chain.
