Detroit run away:

My dad just had a discussion with me about the comments I posted on that video. I guess I won't be writing anything like that again.

Ben

He expressed dissappointment? I never read them, nor watched the video. I'll have to do that later.

I may need to enlist you guy's help sometime to post a video. I have a 79 4200 International lowboy tractor my uncle gave me about 11 years ago and I've never started it. The hood/grille is right up against a tree precluding it's opening. This truck has a supposedly very good running 6V-92T, (350hp) under that hood and a nine speed behind it. I'm gonna make attempt to get it going over the Memorial day holiday break. I have spare injectors, and governor setting tools so we'll see how it shakes out. This truck will be my "yard horse" if I get it fired off and running well.

A video might send nephew Ben over to see his girlfriend for some excitement. I can just imagine how nephew Vin would feel if I was screwing around with a "U" model Mack; but I don't have one of those.

Oh no - you have a whole library of them fancy new video's? How about a link?

Been a long time since I posted a video, but here's the old ones. I like "leaving D door". They're all bad, but some aren't as bad as others.

I'd put the truck in neutral, use another truck to charge the air tanks so that you can release the brakes, and roll it back away from the tree so that you can at least check all of the fluids (if not drain/replace them) before you try to fire that thing up.

Hell, I could check/top off all of my fluids Sunday night and I'll STILL open the hood to double check everything before I fire it up Monday morning. Never know what might have happened overnight...let alone over the course of 11 years! That "oil" might be pretty nasty after all this time, and who knows whether or not some part of the cooling system rotted through and pissed out all of the antifreeze....or some knucklehead might have showed up overnight to remove a drain plug....never know.

Always better to be safe than sorry.....check those fluids!

I will do and follow all of that advice. My uncle outside of Effingham where the truck is, farms and has a large tractor we will drag it back with. Given how the two strokers like to stick the injector racks from sitting I'll take a complete extra set with me. I know the truck ran well and drove to where it sits now, but I'd like to get it back to my place. I thought about winching it up on my dropdeck but my uncle is kinda itching to have something to do with me? so wants to help get it going again. I don't want to spend a lot of time to discover the engine is stuck from sitting so getting it to roll over is kinda important.

Thanks,

Rob

Aww man Uncle Rob, I wish you didn't live so far away. I would love to be there for that. I definately want to see the video.
