I looked at this book on Macks and on the cover it had a Superliner. The picture of the super liner on the cover was taken in like a sandy deserty area. I think the Superliner on the front had some orange on it or something. I want to find this book. Thanks,,,,,Vinny

Ebay seems to be the best place to find them. It is a great book on the history of Mack. The first edition (hardcover) covers through the early 1970's and the second edition (paperback w/Superliner) covers through the late 1970's.

The model production numbers in the back are worth the price.

The only picture of U I saw is on the page 177 with a bit of text.

Although it's a very good book conteins lot of info especially about early models.

Important sourse of general Mackology.

Olive, you have to make a present to our U-person as the edition with off-set letters

Vlad - I would, but it is signed by a guy that was involved in a U model layover accident so it has sentimental value. He was left handed and his left arm was pinned under the Mack mirror so now he can't even sign his name. He forgot to install the outrigger wheel.

What I have been wondering is if you are below the equator and you lay over your U model, does it spin clockwise or counter clockwise?

They roll over by themselves south of the equator. Don't even require movement. It is a gravitational pull thing. Look at it like a toilet: you flush north of the equator, the water spins to the right. You flush south of the equator, the water spins to the left. Didn't take long for our aussie friends to discern they didn't need any of those things in Oz.

Same principal and a toilet is an excellent comparison for those lopsided things.

Don't you mean Rob, that's a reason of not using U's in Australian service?

Vlad

One of many, certainly.
