I've done that in the snow, gravel, mud, grass...and in a couple of my pickups, even on dry pavement! Every vehicle I own (including my motorcycle & the Mack) has been powerslid through some slop at one point or another.... Mike Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Man, and I thought ya did everything like that. Ya got to torture test this stuff to see if it will hold up when the going gets tough. I recall at the Ford Assembly Plant we saw the Mustangs come off the line. Those guys floorboarded them inside the plant with black smoke rolling out the tires. I was told that they had rather the cars blowup at the plant than when the customer recieved it. Vinny I bet your Mack was tested the same way. I did this and I did it with my kids when they started driving. Makes you a much better driver. I too have seen several broken differentials, transfer cases, gearsets etc. and it's just plain expensive to repair this type of damage. "Mud bogging" is very popular over here and several drivelines are broken or compromised in this so called "sport". The same thing happens a lot in car racing also. Noting wrong with any of that if the owner is willing to accept the risk and expense of broken parts.I can see from your post you and I have a lot of the same thoughts as far as a little common sense goes a long way. I don't "hammer" the throttle to use every bit of engine horsepower available when I start out, nor do I abuse a vehicle due to lack of respect.
