I was working way out on the North Fork of Long Island today and saw 5 purple Granite dump trucks running together with Connecticut plates on them. Trucks were very clean and looked to be pretty new.

They dont want their trucks there i guess. This was one of their employees who was telling us. We'll see how long he lasts delivering stone all over cheap. The town were his quarry is in RI hates him. Just do a google search and you'll find a lot of articles about shutting the place down.

Hes bringing stone down to a pre-cast place in town when Tilcon is just up the street so for them, to be trucking stone all the way down from RI they must be doing it cheap and people have said he sells cheap. The guy sounds like a odd duck too. Had to go to court so he took one of the brand new granites even though he dont have a CDL. Hes trying to open up another quarry in Lisbon to get out of RI supposedly. http://coparquarries.com/

They take credit for "going green" as if they took it upon themselves to reduce emmissions and were not forced by law.

The ferry vs. I-95 comment is BS as well, it's obviously a self-serving decision.

"Copar Quarries has gone green! Our new dump trucks are fuelled with an additive called DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), which allows the diesel fuel to burn cleanly with virtually no emissions. The exhaust is actually cleaner than the air we breathe!

In addition to cleaner exhaust, we at Copar have taken steps toward making some of our major roadways a safer place. All of our Long Island deliveries are made by putting our trucks on the ferry. This not only saves time, but also adds no additional congestion to Interstate 95 in Connecticut and the Long Island Expressway in New York."
