A couple Arute trucks are resting in this line up at Yawarski's yard in Canterbury, CT in 2004. The truck on the far right looks to be a LJ and the radiator guard starts ARU. There are a couple more at the end of the row and the name can be read after clicking the picture. The Arute trucks have the blk and white diagonal paint on the bumpers.

I wouldn't mind seeing some Arute Bros. pictures of trucks "in service" also.

I'm just going from what he says. It took him a week.

When he changed the bell housing they had to take the lift axle off before they could even start anything. He said half of the trans was stuffed in the lift axle.

I will verify week for clutch job, working at Waterbury mack ('69-"75)  took 8hrs to remove trans, had to completely remove third axle first. laws changed and every one was stuffing tag axles in spots not meant to have one. battery boxes were jammed one on top of another. I knew the owner of the DM getting clutch I was working on; boy was he upset when the bill came.  times have changed .

I know  I'm  getting old when looking at pictures like these and realize  ;; I worked on his fathers trucks.  I see curt's address as Roxbury.  I worked many years for AJP milk haulers also .

Mack was strong in Ct back then. Not as much now. Those early DM 600's sure had cramped wheel bases. Although on the Gateway Terminal website I did see a new Mack Granite #68 I believe. I think Gateway has new ownership. May bee some renewed interest in Mack.

The late Ken Jayne from Wilton ran these trucks. The R model Jayne Brothers bought brand new with a 237/6 spd. He later swapped the 237 into the B81 and put a 300 in the R model. He also put alum wheels on the R model tractor later on. These were older photos i found online from the ATHS Nutmeg Chapter site.

Does anyone know where these trucks are ? Ken was my uncle and I would love to see them in person again.

Here’s an O&G B73, in their storage yard in Torrington, CT. I took these around 2000. Just a cab and chassis, I was told the plan for it was to restore it and add a service body to it and put it back to work. I don’t know if that ever happened. Last time I saw it working was early 90’s with a large compressor mounted to it. Set up with an NH220, Triplex, double frame and a heavy rear.

Some of O&G's trucks at the 5/15/91 project yard in East Hartford

Denis Yaworski's RD800 and other toys in his building

Not a truck, but grandpa was friends with the Mastrobattistos and they did a lot of work together. They ran Ls, Bs, Rs, RDs, and a CL.

That was one of Arute's lowbed trucks. To answer your other question, you wouldn't have met my grandpa-he was an engineer. Supervised his own development projects and consulted with many others. Him and dad knew the D'Angelos that worked for Mastro.

I know your post is a couple years old but hopefully you see this! Arute was done before I was born but knew folks who worked there or were around the shop. I had a friend who ran a brand new Northwest 80D shovel on the 2 adjacent jobs they had on the south end of Rt 9 in Essex-Old Lyme, 1965. An old neighbor of mine (I think her name was Diane) drove truck for them when they were building the west half of 691 in the 80s. If you're on Facebook, join the New England Historical Construction page and you'll find plenty of Arute Bros. stuff.
