hey guys I'm new to this form and am looking to buy a mack truck for my business i'm hopefully starting up in august. I found a great truck however i was told by the owner it doesn't shift into high gear, the owner says there's something wrong with the trans, supposedly another potential buyer had a mechanic take a look and was said that there could be some problems with the pins? I really have no idea what that means because i only know what i've watched on youtube about diesel transmissions so i'm pretty much clueless, does anyone know of any common problems this might be related to ? the truck runs it will get up to about 40-45 mph so i've been told on the phone . The price is fairly reasonable and i most likely will get alittle better price since it needs repair work, however my budget is tight. anyone have a suggestion on a possible diagnosis? and if so do you think I'd be better off finding another truck in better running condition or is it worth fixing this potential truck?

I believe the model is MR686s if i can remember off the top of my head.

Any information that may help would be greatly appreciated and welcomed .

Thanks

First off - Greetings!

What kind of business are you starting?

The first thing I would do is have a mechanic that knows what he is doing check out the truck - it sounds like the other guy did that and guess what? He did not buy it! It would be worth the expense to pay someone to check it out - a lot cheaper than what a lemon will cost you..........
