i dunno where to start on this topic haha. My truck has Dcc on it with DCX61 hardener with Dau75 clear. kinda backwards puttin that old school clear on but it sprays nice if you can still get it. the DBC you might as well brush paint a barn door with. that stuff is total garbage. that old Devilbiss JGA got used alot on my truck along with the new Sata. in my opinion nothin can lay down a good coat of primer like an old school gravity feed Devilbiss.

I have a couple of Sata guns for primer I really like. One has a 1.9 tip, the other a 2.2 for the polyester prime, or gelcoat. Both do a good job if used for the purpose intended. That polyester primer is a nice product if you have the time to allow it to setup. It is very high build and great for "blocking" by hand.

Been a long time since I've seen DAU-75. Sure sprayed a lot of it though. I still have a can of DAU-82 and quart of hardener in the cabinet. It may, or may not be any good. Never liked DBC either. I used DBU until some of the colors were not being supplied. DBC was like spraying miniature rocks on the surface. One of the main reasons a couple of the shops were switched to Sikkens. Never really had any problems with their products except price........

Best bet is a small spot blaster. But because you don't have a compressor that is out. Acid based rust converters WILL come back and haunt you. In your situation your best bet is to get some POR 15! This is designed for painting over rust. Hence the name. The rust helps it cure, and so does moisture and humidity. Dries like concrete, flows out nice, and is impervious to chemicals and fuel. We coat sandblasted fuel tanks with it. BUT, it is not uv stable. So you have to scuff it and cover it with primer or paint. Go with a catalysts urathane primer. That being said I have no clue why they offer it in different colors!

i looked the other day rob i'm spraying with a 1.4 tip on the SATA. But as far as DBC/DBU/Global are all garbage. the one base coat PPG puts out and it's the cheapest base coat they offer is Omni. great product and it's like a sore pecker, for the price you just can't beat it.
