Thursday the boys and I headed to Joplin Mo. to pick up some surplus goodies from the electric company down there:

In the back room we found a wench winch and we brought her home with us.

On the way home I fell asleep while the 16 year old practiced his shifting and I woke up in the middle of a state park and we were no longer moving. The boys decided to make a stop in the 106 degree heat - great.

It was Ha Ha Tonka state park where some carpet bagger fool from Kansas City built a huge castle on top of a bluff and then a year later was killed in a car wreck. This was in 1907 so how did he not see the only car in town coming down the road?

The whole place burned in the 40's - typical ozark justice - if I can't have it, you can't either. Now it is a pretty neat park with the ruins still standing.

They quarried the stone way down the bluff and pulled it up on these little carts - I wanted one to tote my sweaty ass back down the hill.

The original 80 feet tall water town still stands. If you put up a gate, the monkeys just try and find a way to get in:

It also has a COOL as in nice and cold (60 degrees down there) natural bridge and a BAT cave - we did not see anyone in tights though:

The view was great from the castle bluff looking over part of the Lake of the Ozarks - we even saw some nakedness goings on:

I'll check the mail and let you know when it arrives so you can come up and show me the proper operating techniques. We will have to divvy up the photog duties. I get the nekked women, you snap close ups of the men.

Nice looking place Olive !

What is the name of Ozark?

Is this a city or an area?

Vlad

Vlad - The ozarks are an area that is made up of southern Missouri and the top 1/4 or so of Arkansas. Check this out:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ozarks

We tend to use the Ozarks as a derogatory term, but I really shouldn't. The south side of the Missouri river is still a very strong German Catholic area that is clean, pretty much crime free, and a great place to live. But once you continue south of there a little ways, it is like you jumped off a cliff when you enter the Ozarks. The land is not very productive, it is hilly and forrested, and just never was as populated or well off as the rest of the state. But there is a great independant streak in the Ozarks I always admired. We worked down there for 10 years clearing power lines and it was amazing the cross section of people you would run into. Land has always been cheap because you could not do much with a lot of it, so it attracted lots of oddball types and retirees from other areas. Now the biggest thing going is tourism. The Lake of the Ozarks and Branson, Missouri draw in hundreds of thousands of visitors which has really changed the dynamic.

Come to Missouri, I will give you a grand tour!

Is that how they do the Chicken Dance down under?

I can add that to the list of about 100 other places I'd like to visit in this country.

Hopefully you can make it over here one day. Like a lot of us from the States would like to visit Australia..

Be sure to plan your trip for Macungie in June. Will definately fill you up Macks!!

Also on your "want to see" list add the Finger Lakes region of NYS and get your visa for Canada so you can visit the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

Thank you Brocky,

I'm just stopping me of dreaming..

Macugnie in June is the serious point to think about.

There is a lot of plans for this year but for the next - it's clean now.

Anyway I'm pleased too much keeping the BMT company.

It gives me a chance to learn more around my most favorite trucks and have a vision into another part of the world.

let me know when you're coming,i'll cook some spareribs for you!

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.

Try to come over here at cooler time of year Vlad, and will put a tent up on creek, will chase a hog or two down, catch a fish or three, shoot off lots of ammunition, may even take a break when we get tired, and go clean out a dairy lagoon or two. You teach me Russian, and I will tutor you in Texan. You is welcome anytime. randyp

Thank you guys,

It's a big pleasure for me to have so many invitations.

And I'm really glad to know there are many good people in our world.

I'll probably not too quick and can only add now of if anybody of you have a plan to visit Russia I'd be also glad to spend a time to keep your best owerhere.

David,

if I'll come one day I'll be ready to help you to organize :)
