So at work today i was moving brush with a 2005 ford f550 diesel dump and a john deere 950 compact tractor with a loader attatchment. I was just doing my thing and my supervisor stopped me in the truck and said i counldn't drive it i asked why and he said because i didnt have a d.o.t medical card. i said ive driven it a thousand times before im not on the road whats it matter but he said park it. I didnt disagree with him because Mass. law says on a class d license you can drive up to 26,000gvw and a f550 is over 10,000 and in massachusetts anything between 10,000 and 26,000 requires a dot card along with a drivers license. i just thought it was ridiculous that he made me stop for the day even though i was far away from the road and any people.

I'm sure insurance had something to do with it also.

What is this hoisting/rigging thing? Few years back, a storm went thru Mass. and trucks went up there to work. All were shut down due to no license.

Expensive drive from Florida to Mass. and back with little pay

In mass you need a hoisting license (also called a hydraulics lic.) to run equipment like forklifts, loaders, cranes, bucket trucks, basically anything with a boom on it. If you get caught without it and a safety guy catches you he'll burn you for sure.

You must have historical plates on the U685 then right? We are putting them on my U685, so I can drive it, but rumor has it New York states trying to change that.

Yea our makes are registered as antiques and its a toughy subject in mass. and theres like no definite ruling as to what the limitations are as far as a commercial antique truck

Since my U was last titled in Mass, and only has a copy of the title, we might be registering it in Mass, MAYBE. Then if we do that, if we can, we will try to transfer it back over to New York.

New York doesn't have titles for vehicles older then 10 years. You only have a transferable registration. You might be able to get one of those with what you have.
