i have even seen some of the new longer style grab handles with two holes on top that mounted to the old style B model style holes and it had two dud bolts screwed in to fill the other bottom holes and a single bolt in the bottom of the long grab handle. weird, but Mack did some weird stuff. Maybe they had the handles made special to use up some old style cab backs?

My U's got the R style handles. You can tell its an early U if it has the old style handles. They went to the R style in like 73' when they switched over to tan dash U's.

That explains why I only recently learned that the U models didn't have the plus-3 cab. The handle is deceiving.
