1953 Mack LJ wrecker on ebay

Recommended Posts

Holmes is a wrecker manufacturer like Century or Challenger. The winches are made by different companies like Tulsa or Garwood to name a few. Tulsa Winches are used on a ton of oil patch trucks and most are ultra heavy duty. Eiher worm drive or planetary drives. Paul

It was on a few times if I remember correctly. It sold for good $$$ probably non paying bidder. Joe D.

Or he tried to bid it up himself. Non-paying buyers are a great excuse when you have a friend bid the item up in an effort to get the action moving or to create the illusion of value. I'm always pretty skeptical of any re-listing that has previously "sold".

Shill bidding is an unfortunate eBay reality. Happens everyday. I am with fxf when it comes to items relisted after it sold. Good example is the U model flatbed in Newark NJ a couple weeks ago.

As for this one, that is a scary looking homemade wrecker body.

That tulsa winch headache rack and roller mounted crosswise on the back of the frame look like they have oil field written all over them, my guess is they took an old oil field truck and turned it into a gin pole wrecker. Pretty clever. Looks pretty complete though, sure would make a great conversation piece when restored!
