Have you changed the gear oil lately? If not, drain it out and look for any shavings stuck to the magnetic plug. As was said above you probably have a worn bearing, but it's worth taking a look at the old oil to help you discover what your problem could be. Small metal shavings could indicate a bearing, large metal chunks could indicate a bearing or worse yet a broken gear tooth, but the noise sounds more like bearings. Sometimes if the oil is past it's useful service life the trans will whine at top gear. If there's no abnormal metal (anything larger than a fine powder) on the drain plug you might try fresh gear oil, cheaper than an overhaul. Just never know, it might work . . . . .(but it's a big might) :whistling:

Are you sure it's the trans? A rear problem noise can be transmitted through the driveline and shifter like a tuning fork. You wouldn't be the first to get into the trans and then find out you had a ring and pinion problem. You can remove the covers on the rears and inspect the gears.

Good morning all thaks for the reply,

The tranny was just service and I didn't find any shavings or metal, pull the top off and the gears lock good,I was thinking if I put the wron oil I just put the regular gear oil 90/140 it may be too thick, i don't really know becuz is only the last gear.

Did it whine before the tranny service? Paul
