Just wanted to introduce myself to all of you guys. I live in North Central Texas and I have a 1981 R model Mack single axle truck. I bought this truck to haul my excavator around as well as my grain trailer during wheat harvest. This is the first Mack truck I've owned and I really do like it. Mine has the 237 hp motor with the 5 speed tranny. I've got to say that I'm not a big fan of the 5 speed transmission. I miss my old 9 speed a lot! I'm thinking about selling this one and buying a newer tandem axle truck but I haven't decided yet. If someone makes me a good enough offer I would probably let it go but for now I'm content to keep driving it. Nice to have a truck with an A/C in it in Texas! Anyway, I look forward to chatting with a bunch of you.
