This is bullshit. Google more news stories about it- Even the guy who played cooter (I forget his name, now a senator in Georgia) got involved and the toy Mfr backed down....I think.....IIRC.....but then again I cant remember what I had for lunch this afternoon.

AMT Models won't comply because they also do Cooters wrecker, Daisy's Jeep, Roscoes Police car and some other car. RC 2 and Tomi are 1/18 diecasters turned tail and became "correct".

Carrera who does the 1/32 and 1/24 high end slot cars, Retro Hobbies who is maker of the old Aurora AFX slot cars and 1/64 diecast said no to removing the flag.

People are upset over something that they have only the medias slant on it ... If they find it offensive go past and don't look. When we went to the Smithsonian Aircraft storage facility at Silverhill, a man and woman with 2 young boys made a big to do over the markings on 3 WWII German aircraft. It's history get over it.

Hey Vinny! Here is Daisy today.....

I was reading about this a month or two ago. There was so much outrage over it, including from Ben Jones (had to look it up) the guy who played Cooter, now a Senator from Georgia.....Imagine that Cooter is a Senator......That the Toy Mfr who owns the licensing rights (Mattel maybe?) agreed to back down. I think.

"Responding to the continuing rumors, Ben Jones, the actor who portrayed Cooter in the television series, weighed in with a fiery press release. “Some unnamed genius at the company feels that the flag is ‘offensive to some’ and therefore it has no business on a classic TV comedy about a bunch of good ol’ boys and girls in the Southern mountains,”

Mr. Jones, a former two-term Democratic congressman from Georgia, wrote. “This is a new level of ‘P.C.’ idiocy. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of being insulted by morons.”

In the latest statement earlier this week, Mr. Jones, who organizes theme events around the franchise and sells related merchandise online and through his store, Cooter’s Place, in Nashville, said that there were “reliable and verifiable reports from the Warner Brothers car licensees with whom we do business that as of Jan. 1, 2013, the Confederate banner on top of the General Lee would be removed because some people ‘found it offensive.’ "

Well friends, things like that always bother me. As you maybe know, I'm a modeller who cares about the accuracy of the models. I Poland, in the eighties, you couldn't get models of German equipment, because they were just that - politically incorrect. Then the "communism" ended in 1989 and everything opened up and you could model everything you could afford (not much but still better than nothing). Now every now and then you see efforts to ban something from being modelled - be it the nazi swastika, the soviet red star, the figure of the pope (yeah, they made a model of him in Poland and the ultra-catholics were afraid they're loosing the grip on the subject!). Everything like this makes me shake my head. Guess it's easier to outlaw than to explain. Now what does it mean in clear text "someone might be offended"? I say they were afraid of a boycott. Guess the company estimates there are more offended buyers than those who like the flag.

Maybe we should find a way to hurt the company financially? Only then they will know they did wrong. If we're unable to, that menas we're the minority, and then the majority wil have it's way - isn't this democracy?

I mean porn offends some people too, but they weren't outlawed yet - the suppliers WILL follow the demand.

Or maybe let's sell flag decals so that everybody can make the correct version of General Lee at home - that would be the freedom of choice! Let's not let the corporations rule! Thanks for reading and have a nice day
