Technic museum Speyer, Germany

A part of time I enjoyed waisting during my last summer trip was in Germany.

That time I visited this place.

It's one of the biggest technical museums in Europe, by the word it's privat collection.

There are two museums with names of Sinsheim and Speyer (names of the cities they habitates) locating 40km apart from each other.

Probably they are two parts of a big collection. I was in the first two years ago, that was the time for the second one. Of coure European samples prevails overthere but many American also. And Russian.

German aircraft Messerschmidt Me-109 of WW2 and VW Kubelwagen of the same time. Third shot is also VW but called Schwimmwagen because it could swim, probably in slowly water. Here also Gimmy and Duck. And my sun busy making his own photosession.

Also Messershmidt, but after-the-war units. Germans call them Kabinen-roller.

Hall number 2:

German aircraft of 40's Junkers Ju-52, Russian space shuttle "Buran", racing trucks and some other stuff.

I like that M model even more! I have an emlem the same as that on that truck.

No, there is written "Kohlen kuli".

Don't know what means kuli but Khole means coal.

So probably must been a coal hopper.

Kubinka museum - 80 km from my home not coming into the city.

Kubinka - little town of nearly 10000 people.

Location of the museum - part of a big tank division. Museum is military.

Geat collection of tanks, lots of German war time, most of them Germans have not yet. They were just taken to Russia after the war.

But not so nice represantative - just tanks in line, lots of tanks.

Here are some pictures from of 4 years ago visit.

Last one - German mines destroyer. Probably man-operated.

Yes, I saw it. But it's some strange looking thing without a gun and with many traces of bullets and "big bullets".

Because of a site's truck orientation this tread got "odds'n ends".

Yes, 500K. It's nothing if I say I like compressor pre-war Mercedes.

There are some of them in Germany, most are well-known.

If you look at the picture, the plate conteins "Sinsheim". It means the car is just temporary out of its original location. I saw whole a collection of compressors 500-540 in Sinsheim. Also 770 and G4.

Can post of course but as you noted we all prefere Macks owerhere

There were many old Mercedes including 500K in Russia after the war. Most of them were exported back in Germany in early 90's.

This a sorrow to Russians, of a same kind as you feel for Mack export.

What an awesome museum.

As for the military pics- has anyone here ever been to the United States Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland? It's currently in the process of being moved (where I cant remember for the life of me....) but both the indoor and outdoor collection are AWESOME. I was a firefighter at the post from 1997-2005 and one of these years I am going to scan the shitload of pictures I have of the museum and post them.

As for US Army, there is "Marchall museum" in The Netherlands with a content of great collection of American army vehicles, trucks, tanks and everything other taken with Lend-Lease to West Europe. I was there two times, can make special report if anybody is in interest.

There are 2(!) Macks overthere. How you have probably noted yet, this figure is too high due to European level of Mack concentration.

Vlad, yes Macungie is a small town located about 185km from NYC. The truck show is always on the Friday/Saturday/Sunday of American fathers day weekend which is the third weekend of June. You can also take a tour of Mack's Macungie Assembly Plant, also located in Macungie- they run free shuttle buses from the show to the plant. You can also go to the Mack Museum, about 20km away (they also run buses there and back to the show.) I live in Hellertown, Pennsylvania which is about 32km from Macungie. If you want to see where I live, look for Interstate 78, next to the city of Bethlehem and Allentown. I am about 125km from the airports in NYC.

Many many things to see and do in the area. You can see and tour NYC of course (which is very expensive by the way, so unless if you have a lot of money I dont recommend staying in the City, and just go there on day trips.) The City of Philadelphia is also about 160km from NYC, also a nice place, where I am from originally. Baltimore, Maryland is about 320km from NYC, and Washington DC is 400km.
