I noticed that one of my front wheels has slipped on the ring. I am really nervus about trying to tighten it up. The fronts have bias ply tires witch I want to replace with radials and powder coat wheels. I called about 20 tire places and nobody will work on them. What is everybody doing? They look like three piece to me. Thanks

Do you mean that the wheel tire combo has slipped on the spokes?

If that is the case, the lugs have to be tightened to about 160 ft lbs of torque.

Most guys are switching to tubeless radials.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

Thanks for the info. yes the tire and wheel have slipped. I can see where it has scraped the paint on the ring. Is it safe to just tourque them with tire infated. I need to just make it around real slow for a couple of weeks for minor repairs and to find a tire place that will work on these rims

yes it is safe, the lug nuts have nothing to do with the rim. The tire/rim combo is safe as long as the locking ring is properly seated and undamaged. The clamp/wedge portion holds to the main part of the rim not the lock ring.
