Is there any aftermarket Electronics out there that a person can install to enable deleting the afterberner and all the problems that go along with it. I also have a Cummons that I have deleted and it runs flawlessly with better power and less fuel.

Are you asking about removing the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) or disconnecting the "7th injector"? Disconnecting the "7th injector" and not removing the DPF will result in a plugged DPF. Either one will require an ECM reprogram and likely some sensor changes.

Yes on my Cummons I have a module that tells the ECM everything is normal and you can eleminate all the obstructions in the exaust and let the engine breath like it should. Than you get better power and fuel economy with a more trouble free engine.

In the 80's, Mack experimented with turbine power. There were two Superliner conventionals and a Cruiseliner cabover with turbines. The Cruiseliner is currently in the Mack museum. It is not in running condition, for display only. The whereabouts or disposotion of the tutbine powered Superliners has been lost to time.

Well I see I am just wasting my time here. I owned Macks for 35 years because they were the most economical and trouble free trucks on the road, but now they might as well just stick VOLVO on their hood and be done with it. I am just trying to help a friend make his truck not cause him so many headaches. I didn`t imagine getting a straight answer on here would be near imposable

JJ,

Deleting emission equipment is ILLEGAL here in the states. Therefore, no one on this forum is likely able to help you "override" any emissions controls. I am sure there are companies that offer assistance with your friend's issue. Perhaps someone will send you a PM with information but you will not see it published on a public forum. Electronic engines have many sensors and built-in checks and diagnostics that it is not easy to disable much if anything.

Sorry you feel no one is giving you a straight answer.

This forum is still the best place for information about Macks.

Maybe calling it the right thing would help also.

If you were trying to find a way to delete the "regen" then thats what you should call it.

The regen can be not used if the truck is running hard and pushing good heat at the exhaust.

If it is running at 1300-14--, the sweet spot, it is not building real heat. Thus, the regen

As stated, the sensors all over the new engines (thank you EPA) will either not allow an over ride or derate the motor until fixed

Yup, I have plenty of dpf tricks up my sleave but I am not going to share them with a a hole .... and there is a huge differance between the cummins dpf and Macks dpf to begin with. Now Mack is starting mvasist so when a truck has a malfunction lite code it will notifiy mack then call you to make a appointment at the closest mack dealer after checking and diagnosing your problem and also checking on parts before you get there.

One of the makers for the DPF delete kits for pickup truck sized engines is being sued by the EPA for I think around 230 million dollars. At one of my last Mack classes I went to we talked about the DOT having a reader to hook up to the NOX sensor and see if things are working correctly. Also check this link out. http://www.mycarlady.com/2010/09/17/epa-fines-dpf-delete-users/

Farmer52, Hatcity, and Mackpro68 I thank you for the information thats all I was asking. Up here in northern Canada we don`t have the luxury of a dealership or even a repair shop at times for hundreds of miles and in the winter if the truck quits because of some stupid little sensor your hooped. If you are electronically inclined or know some one who is and have a pocket full of resisters you can build foolers that Will simulate normality and make the computer happy, but you have to understand a lot of technical computer information. BMT Forum Guru and Farmer 52 thanks for the Turbine pictures, up here we heard about them but never got to see them. I believe we have it figured out how to get this truck to not shut down for re-gens. thanks again.
