Central PA Macks

Recommended Posts

Stopped and took some pics of more local Macks.

RJGlass Coal; Duncansville, PA - still run Macks. Saw these two (2) Rs sitting next to some trailers. I remember their fleet of Rs. Frosted green with dark green strips. Sharp looking trucks.

A local farmer near Williamsburg, PA owns this R and U/DM. I think the U/DM had a cement mixer body. He has another R with a "honey tank" but I could not get a pic. I think these trucks were originally owned my New Enterprise Stone & Lime company. They owned mostly Macks and always red, even today all their trucks are red. I need to stop by NES&Ls "junk" yard and take some pics.

Not sure about NES&L's money situation. I hear rumors but no facts. My brother-out-law works in the HQ office and he is tight lipped about business. Their bone yard is behind the Roaring Spring quarry. My farm is 1 mile from it and their overburden pile (Mount NESL) is at the back border of the farm. Sometimes when they blast it shakes the house and out buildings. I keep hoping I will win the NES&L lottery (buy the farm). One of these days when I get motivated (before the snow flies) I will venture there and take some pics. I imagine there are some Macks there. I remember when all the cement mixers were B models.

I did a google search of them and that how I found about their problem.Seems like they are working way to cheap like everyone else.Last year they did about 550 million in business and walk away with less then 1.5 percent profit. That is just the reason me and my brothers walk away from it all back in 2007.We didn't owe anyone any money all the equipment was paid for so we said that it.

Brockway 361

I drove by this one several times in the past, finally stopped and took some pics. It is near Hollidaysburg. There is a FOR SALE sign in the window but no phone number. If anyone is interested in this truck I will try to find the seller. OH inspection sticker in windshield dated 1985. I was able to open the driver's door but the passenger door would not open. Where is the serial number on this truck?

The serial # tag on my 358 is inside the right door,I don't know if that's where they put all the ID tags on the 300 series or not.

OK, i'm the aardvark. I like H models. I like F models. I like the MH's. But the Cruiseliners...I just never cared much for their looks.

Very nice pictures though, your "kodiakatronomy of the week" award will be in the mail.

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.

Thanks Tom. Photography is one of my many hobbies. All of these were all taken with my old and trusty Olympus SP350 8.0mp camera. However you win the award for "on the road action" and "hitchhiker" pics!

Other dog. I kind of agree with you on the first cruiseliners but not on the final cut before the MH. There is a tanker fleet out in wisconsin that still runs black cruiseliners.

They are really sharp. While the F's were great looking in there youth they pretty much all turned into rust buckets. Those aluminum cruiseliners should be around for a while even in salty Wisconsin. :SMOKIE-RT:

Serial number on 300 series Brockways can be found in three places.... inside of either door, bottom corner (on triangle brace) or the dash on right side.... if the frame is clean, look under the pass side frame, between the shackle and axle..
