Well today I went out and hauled a bunch of scrap wood from our last home renovation project and I decided to take a few snapshots:

1981 Chevy C10 Deluxe. Regular cab, short bed, two wheel drive, 250 straight six, automatic.

The wood pile:

This was about halfway through the process.

It's amazing how much stuff I can actually haul in the shortbed:

Which is all well and good till dad has to pull it out with the suburban because I got it stuck.

(No photo because I was too ashamed to take one)

But finally, after much throwing, heaping, pulling, rooster-tailing, and a whole lot of fun, the pile was successfully moved

Your lucky you got to run your yard truck. Remember your cousin heres buisness, Vinny's Dump Truck Service? Well, that only runs in the summer. Ye ole 78 Ford is out back at Papas near the barn. I drove it out there a couple weeks ago though when I was last there. Suckers cold bloded bad though. Took us a few tries to get her goin. But, I had to pull around the backhoe, then back up, get on the road "sand road", and drive her out. Got er' up to second gear. Movin pretty quick. Sounds good too, no exaust. Heres a picture I took of her after I parked it. I think we might fix it up this summer. Needs some bondo, tune up, new bed, I painted the passenger mirror with chrome spray paint this past summer. Put some duct tape over the broken plastic inside. And cleaned out the whole cab.

I know what you mean, Cousin. I only get to run the yard truck as long as it doesn't snow. Once it snows, it's slumber time for that rig. And it has the good ole thrifty six with no exhaust on it and man it sounds wonderful. And I'm with you on cleaning out the cab too. You see the black toobox in the front of the bed? It's completely filled with various tools and equipment. Before I got the toolbox, all of the stuff used to be inside the cab and it was a complete disaster. But I took the time one day and cleaned everything out and organized it all into the toolbox and now everything is all neat and tidy

Here you go Ben...

That is cool and all, but we need to refer back to the fact that is a YARD TRUCK and it shan't be modified beyond it's current configuration. As long as the motor in it runs, that motor is gonna stay there. If that motor quits running, then my dad is gonna scrap the truck. But we do have a 3-53 that will eventually go into a cool truck or car someday

I've had 2-250 c.i. Chevy's. One was in a '68 Impala and you could've squeezed 2 more of those engines under that hood and had room to spare. It was a tough little engine and a pleasure to work on.

That is indeed a tough engine. I had one in a '68 Camaro when I was 19 or 20 years old. The rear main bearing seal leaked really bad, but I never fixed it because I was intending on putting the 350 out of my Nova in it. I lived in Cumberland,Va. at the time and I would fill it up with oil- cheap oil too, reprocessed or whatever- then overfill it a quart, drive it to Richmond on Friday nights, and by the time I got back to Powhatan on the way home the oil light would be on and it would knock like hell the rest of the way home. Then i'd fill it back up with oil the next day and it would quit knocking and be good as new. Did that many times with that old car.

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.
