Been reading the press about the fiscal stuff.....is there anyone in Washington DC that is worth a damn!!!!!! mad1.gif

NOT A ONE. After Bohner Ignored the month late appropriation bill for monies to help Sandy's victims (some still with out power and some living in shelters and tents still) showed me that all politicians only have their best interest at heart. My last little bit respect for any one in the Public Service sector is gone.

Heck, look at what they Gov has done to Hobby Lobby. They are a Company built on Christian Values with 13,000 employees, all whom sign a petition to be exempt from the Abortion claus in Obama Care as violating their Christian Belief that life starts at conception. Sibilous and the other Supreme court justices ruled that the Federal Healthcare laws supersede Religious Beliefs. The daily fine form non compliance started yesterday @1.3 million a day. Obay the law or we will bankrupt you!

8 people fired from an Indiana hospital for wanting an Exemption from mandatory Flu Shots... All Hail The Lord Government

Per the Rev Martin Niemoller Foundation-

Article of 22 9th 2005

"When the Nazis came for the communists ....."

The quote

Widely quoted, often modified, sometimes abused, still relevant: the famous quote Martin Niemoller

"When the Nazis, the Communists brought,

I kept silent,

I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I kept silent,

I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

I kept silent,

I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for me,

there was no more,

to speak out. "

The above quote left out "trade unionist" and added some other items most likely it was intentional but never the less left out. Just remember that all you anti union guys and gals out there.

According to the Martin-Niemöller-Foundation the text is as follows[2]:

First they came for the communists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,

and there was no one left to speak for me.

Another longer version is

First they came for the communists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the jews,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the catholics,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a catholic.

Then they came for me,

and there was no one left to speak for me.

In the United States, the quotation is more commonly known as:

First they came for the socialists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me,

and there was no one left to speak for me.

Yet another version is

When the Nazis came for the communists,

I remained silent;

I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I remained silent;

I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,

I did not speak out;

I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,

I remained silent;

I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.

The point is the "silence", not the detail of the quote.

Surounding the white house wont do shit, your lawmakers arent in the white house, the president doesnt make the laws and set the taxes congress and the senate do. You want to get em to change something you have to get them on a term limit so they cant just sit there for years making money and riding it out, and stop them from voting on their own raises, quite possibly the biggest improvement to our govornment would be term limits on senate/congress and using the popular vote to determine the presidency not electoral college, it doesnt matter how you vote if your representatives want to vote another way your vote is worhtless.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I agree with the "silence" but I disagree that the details don't matter. The picture and the quote are meant to hit home with individuals, That's why what is important to some isn't for others. My point is the original quote (from the rev's foundation) included some "points" that weren't included in your post. Given the anti-union ramblings on here I thought it should be noted instead of remaining "silent".

Very interesting-

Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average US household below the poverty line received $168 a day in government support. What’s the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25 an hour. And the person who works also has to pay taxes, which drops his pay to $21 an hour. It’s no wonder that welfare is now the biggest part of the budget, more than Social Security or defense. And why would anyone want to get off welfare when working pays $9 an hour less?

I was reading an article in the "USA Today" a few weeks ago about the longshoreman who were threatening to go on strike. The most surprising thing to me was that their average salary was over $120,000 a year- 3 times what I make.

Many of us on here are union, I'm a 282 Teamster since 1973. My two complaints now, They are telling me who to vote for because of what they will do for the union bosses and two: any benefits I've seen goes to the top and not the rank and file. It's changed for most it is now about power, money and perks, not the members any more. We have become what we fought to change.

I was thinking about something I had posted earlier....might have been this thread, could have been another....don't really feel like scrolling back to try to find it. It had to do with term limits, though, and I think I've come up with a better plan.

It seems they (the politicians) have no problem taxing the working man...and most of them have written loopholes and exemptions for themselves into the law. Hell, how many of our law makers haven't paid their own taxes? Even our TREASURY SECRETARY is a tax cheat.

Anyway, I was listening to a discussion on the radio today about how the congress hasn't passed a budget in over 1000-something days....and that this fiscal cliff deal adds 4.something trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years....and it got me thinking. I know my other post, I had expressed my support for a Constitutional Amendment for term limits on Senators and Representatives, citing that if it is fair to limit the President to 2 terms, it ought to be just as fair to limit our other elected public servants. However, after doing some thinking, I've devised a much better plan. Rather than term limits, we should amend the Constitution so that:

1) Any fiscal year in which a budget is not passed which limits expenses to no more than the revenues collected in the prior fiscal year, there shall be NO pay for Senators, Representatives, or the President.

2) If for two consecutive years a Representative, Senator, or President receives no compensation for lack of a balanced budget, the tax rate for ALL income generated from ALL sources within the household of each Representative, Senator, or President shall be no less than 100%.

3) If a Representative, Senator, or President receives no compensation for lack of a balanced budget during ANY 3 years in which he/she serves in either the House of Representatives, Senate, or as President, then the elected public servant shall forfeit any government paid pensions, health insurance, or any other "benefit" he/she would otherwise be entitled to after leaving office.

In other words, they'd have to form 2013's budget based upon the revenues collected in 2012. If they want to spend more money in 2014, they had better take steps to grow the economy in 2013...because if they kill the economy, they will have less money to spend. Any years the economy grows, there would be a surplus....and the only deficit years would be if we are in a recession. If they don't pass a balanced budget and stick to it, they don't get paid. If they make a habit of it, any income they have from any other source would be taxed at 100% to try to reduce the deficit. Fail to balance the budget 3 times during your time in DC and you lose your pension...and yes, that would be cumulative. Fail once as a Rep, again as a Senator, and one more time as a President.....NO PENSION FOR YOU!

I would also like to see some sort of Amendment limiting the percentage of your income that can be confiscated by the federal government....10% is good enough for God, it ought to be the maximum effective tax rate too. The government can tax people less if it wants....but not more.

That sounds good Rowdy if we could get it added but how could we get that done. Looks like the taxpayer got sold down the river with this fiscal cliff deal. Tax loopholes for large corporations and a loophole for motorsport track owners. I didn't read the whole article because I got discusted that was just the highlights. The loopholes will cost the taxpayer BILLIONS. Almost forgot our tax rate went up also. You just got to love congress now.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/02/fiscal-cliff-wall-street_n_2397933.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing6%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D252378

Total population of about 390 million , 21 million public and Municipal workers, 47 million citizens on some from of public housing, food stamps, free phones and welfare assistance , 10.3 million "undocumented aliens receiving S.S. and other assistance , 11 million on Disability (SSD) , 12 million unemployed and an estimated 3.8 million who are no longer looking for work and applying for assistance.
Total work force not counting Public Servants is 112 million full time and 37 million part time workers that contribute to the Economy. Public Servants are not counted because their salary is paid by taxes and is considered to be a closed loop system....their salary is is not the result of a job that contributes to the GNP but is paid for by the GNP, there for is a minus.
390 million population
197.8 million receiving aid and assistance or Public Servants
159 million producing workers (including Military personnel)
56.3 million retired, students, home makers and children .

Not counting the last group of 56.3 million, the 159 million workers are supporting 174.1million.
Even if you count the 21 million Public Service employees on the side of non public service workers it bring it down to one worker supporting one of the ''O" people.

Also State and Local Aide Programs are not counted here!!

AS OF TODAY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HIRED 73,000 MORE EMPLOYEES FOR THE HEALTH CARE "FEES"

I can't speak for the teamsters but my union and local are different. They put the members concernsneeds first as long as its common sense and feasible for the signatory contractors especially in this economy. Its a balacing act but at the end of the day its the members first. Not doubting that many on here are union but there are a few who are ex-union or non-union and always have been, that consistently bash unions.

Well I got fucked by my union, I got thrown into the sheetmetal workers eventhough im a machinist and the IAM votes my contract, the railroad has a deal with the unions to balance out their membership so they force you into where they need to make the numbers right, I live in middle TN, my union local is in Selkirk NY, my dues are twice what the IAM dues are and my union wont help me do ANYTHING they actually tried to have me fired when I said it was bs putting me in a union in MY when I live here and the IAM has a local here and is the one that votes for my contract! I say fuck the unions they used to work but now all they want is money and power and dont care about their members at all! My problem is I get fired if I dont pay union dues.

What if all of the taxpayers got together and agreed not to send any more checks to the government until the congress passed a balanced budget? We the people could shut the government down in a heartbeat if that ever happened because they can't throw EVERYBODY in jail...hell, as soon as the money stoped flowing into the treasury, they couldn't even prosecute the cases, let alone house anybody behind bars.....especially since the only people left would be the ones who have their hand out TAKING money from the government instead of working and PAYING to the government. Let THEM pay their "fair share" for a while and see how that goes....

And somebody seriously needs to tell Boehner that there is no crying in politics! It is hard to take seriously a man who gets emotional and cries like a little girl every time anything happens. It is absolutely embarrassing for the GOP to have such a girly man as the "leader" of their party...
