that's how the printers get you, with the ink. My first printer was a Lexmark that was under $30,and it worked well for a long time but one ink cartridge for it cost more than the printer did.

I've seen kits that you could get to refill them yourself, never tried them though. A couple of people I know did, and they didn't have much luck with it, said it wasn't worth the effort..

I have tried that do it yourself kit about 7 years ago. I got more ink on my fingers and computer table than in the cartridge.

switch to a laserjet printer. I have both a black and white (brother HL-2270DW) and a color (HP 2604dn). If an inkjet printer is not used regularly, the ink dries up.
