I HAVE A 76 MACK RL700L LOG TRUCK WITH A SMALL CAM CUMMINS ENGINE. IT HAS A DIFFERENT FRONT CROSS MEMBER/ENGINE MOUNT THAT BROKE IN TWO A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I HAVE SINCE TAKEN IT TO A SHOP TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE ONLY TO FIND THAT THEY WANT ABOUT SIX GRAND TO REPAIR IT. THIS CROSS MEMBER/ENGINE MOUNT IS "U" SHAPED AND IS ATTACHED WITH FOUR BOLTS ON EITHER END ABOUT A FOOT AND A HALF BACK FROM THE BUMPER. IT IS CAST AND I DONT KNOW BUT I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OTHER MACK OWNERS HAVE DONE THIS TYPE OF REPAIR ON THEIR OWN. I SURE AS HELL AM NOT GOING TO PAY SIX GRAND TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. PLEASE HELP!

I'm going out on a limb here and saying that's a specific mount to a cummins family of engines. My rs700 has a standard Mack front mount that is cast but looks nothing like that. There was a few mount styles with the RS/RL frame. Some had provisions to bolt the lower radiator mount to them. Some did not. Different engines used different front mount and I think you will need to find a cummins specific mount or remove and repair it? Hopefully someone with first hand experience and can comment.

I'd say your best bet is to pull it and have it repaired.I broke a motor mount on my '74 F model when I was still running it,of course no new to be found.Blocked up the motor and took it out,had a local machine shop/welder fix it better than new very reasonable.
