I believe the valve covers on all four valves have an angled top and are aluminum? , while two valve valve covers kind of resemble that of a small block Chevy and are steel. Also, the injector lines on a two valve go up and over the engine between the valve covers to the injectors in the left side of the head, while on a four valve the injectors are on the same side of the engine as the pump. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I think your right about the valve covers not sure about injectors

Yea. 2 valve injector can be seen at top of head where the lines connect to it. 4 valve just has the lines entering the side of the head on passenger side. 4v have sloped valve covers. 1989 would be 4 v unless it was pulled and a 2v was swapped in at some point.

In addition to what the others said, if it has chassis mounted charge air cooler, it is 4V, if it doesn't, it's 2V. There may be rare exceptions, like the 1000 series (forerunner of E9) V8. That also was the beginning of the Econodyne (4V & CMCAC) designation.

Although I'm still in doubt about it.

I see I misstyped one letter.

Or maybe I needed to wright "mine's"?

Leslie, there are all 24 valves.

I have a pair of spare heads removed

Thank you Paul, I think you don't need to learn Russian, English is going to be global. Nobody can learn everything in this world, we have to choose what we like or what we need mostly.

  • 7 years later...

Looks like someone used the search function came up with this thread and added their question to it.

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.
