This truck had an E9 that was putting out over 800hp on the dyno.It had a Holset turbo on it and was tweaked by our local MACK dealer's injection shop.Wasn't real good on fuel,but it would run! Sadly,the owner Alan Smith passed away.Then right after his daughter dropped the insurance,the shop it was parked in burned and this $120,000 restoration was toast! The under hood air cleaner had an air intake at the grille opening to pull cool-fresh air through the grille. Single right mounted exterior air cleaner or dual air cleaners can be found on 6 cylinders or V-8's depending on how they were spec'd. All Magnums are V-8 powered and I would have to say most had air cleaners mounted under the hood. It simply cam down to preference based on the application, aerodynamics and preference.I can't say I have ever seen a Super Liner with square tanks from the factory. Steel and aluminum were available.We seem to be forgetting, when you order a Mack, you order a truck spec'd to what you need. I don't think they will be as flexible now as they once were but, they would pretty much build the truck with the parts you specified.There is no way to generalize with a Mack.We do however have at our disposal, the way to find out what each truck was built with, access to the build records at the Mack Trucks Historical Museum.There are many great advantages to owning Mack Trucks. 4 Quote Interested in Old Trucks?
