Bill Bedell captured this picture of a modified R-600 similiar to one I seen at a bone yard in Wisconsin,a few years back. The one I looked at had a NH-220 installed by Cummins in it.They had actually done a nice job on that conversion. This one looks not as nice, but still interesting.post-510-0-89771700-1359605201_thumb.jpg

The other one that I seen at the boneyard, had more of an RB looking nose on it (just the front 2 feet or so).You can see the fiberglass starting to crack on this "conversion".My guess is it too,is Cummins powered. The extra length was needed to house the 855 cubes. You guys can't see it from there, but I keep kicking myself for not getting a photo of that other one I seen! :pat: It was at my guess, around a '68 or so,had a triplex, underslung camelback susp, and the nicest original Bostrum T-Bar & matching rider seat I've ever seen in a truck that old.It even had a 23 channel CB in it with twin truckers antennnas! I know some folks were pulling their hair out over the 711 at that time.Maybe this was a way to keep the truck, just do away with the troublesome motor. Why a heavy Cummins,I don't know? :bulldog1:

kinda like this one haha. least they kept runnin em and not put out to pasture or scrapped. if it wasnt for this one getting re engined with the detroit, i would have never gotten the cab cause it would have long been scrapped with the original 402 in it or the scania that was in it after. pretty much a shame to see a truck with 80,000 miles on it on its third engine. shows you the mechanics and drivers didnt care.
