Though a little cold, the skies were clear so I changed out the drivers side battery box and replaced the pyrometer...

At some point someone put on a western style all aluminum battery box...it is two inches wider than the one that came on the truck, hard to get the lid off without scraping the fender...

Had to move the front main mount...nothing I had would budge it...bent all my pipe breaker bars...went out to work and borrow a 48" 3/4 drive torque wrench! The bolts loosened right up!!

Almost finished!

Dont know why someone with a working truck would choose not to replace the pyromter thermocouple! Anyway, someone put a pipe plug in its place which was frozen solid!!!

I had to drill it out and retap the pipe threads...NO FUN!

Lookin' good Leslie!

Keep up the good work!

Did you get that poor old neglected "B" model of yours running yet?

Ron

I messed with it today trying to get fuel up to the pump...I dont think it is the filter...I took the supply line to the pump off and raised it higher than the pump and filled it with fuel...couldnt make any pressure with the primer pump....took the two fittings off, the two check valves are free...will try to find a new supply pump...

Did you check the faces of the check valves (smooth, flat, and no cracks)

How are the springs for the check valves and copper gaskets where the plug and primer pump go into supply pump?

And finally how is the primer pump?

I would think the supply pump would have to be pretty damn bad for the primer pump not to be able to build pressure.

Also check all the lines, including the lines from the supply pump to the secondary filter and back to the gallery in the pump.

The only other thought that comes to mind would be the overflow valve on the pump, could have a piece of dirt in it or a broken spring which

would not allow it to build pressure.

If I get a warm day this week I will actually pull the valves out and check more closely...the primer has been leaking sporadically for about the last year or so, never bad or long enough for me to worry about...I am going to get a filter also...maybe the pump is very weak and needs a super duper new filter to work...

Thanks for all of the advice

It should have two fuel filters on it a primary and a secondary.

Supply from the tank should go to the primary filter then a line from the primary filter to the rear of the supply pump.

The line on the supply pump under the primer pump should go to the secondary filter and then back to gallery on the injection pump.

It is plumbed like that...last year when it did this (idle kinda slowed down until it died) I put on both new filters and that fixed it...I put the line going to the supply pump (from the primary filter) in a bucket of clean fule and it would not pick it up, with cranking the engine or the hand primer...
