HI, I am David Williams and live in Valdosta,Ga. I operate a small trucking co. from here that runs mostly the southeast. My family has been in the trucking business since the mule and wagon days, for real,. Whne trucks came along theu started using mostly Macks. MY dad bought the first Maxidyne in an F model shipped the the southeast in 1967. Before that he ran B models when they were new. I now have a 1959 B 61 that I am fixing up to pull my Gooseneck horse trailer with, I think it will look and be better than one of those new freightliner sport's and a lot less than $100,000. I also have a 1964 B 67 with the big alum. rad. that I may restore also. I have a 1989 R model that I use on the road to replace my peterbilts when they are in for repairs. I have been around Mack trucks for 40 yrs but this is the first restoration on a truck I have tried so I will have a few questions about how and where to find the parts I want to use and change to so thanks in advance.

Also thanks to watts mack for providing a place like this.

Hello,

My name is David Waits, I am 44 years old and live in Roopville, GA.

I got into Mack trucks by allways wanting my own fire truck, when I was able to get one it was a Mack and now I have been bitten by the dog!

My truck is a 1948 S-75 pumper that is under restoration, I have my eye on a really good B61 that a friend has. I am planning to use it for hauling the pumper to shows as well as pulling my horse trailer.

I am married to my high school sweetheart who lets me do just about anything as long as it is not illegal or imorall or fattening we have a 13 year old daughter, two horses, one dog (who will ride on or in anything with me) and three (too many) cats.

I like the new look of the forum and the looks of the new board!

Hi, my name is William (Diesel Gypsy) Weatherstone,

I have helped to alleviate the crush of traffic, by pulling my truck off the road and retiring. Consider this as my small contribution to the traffic problem on all major highways, as well as any other local congested route.

I am now retired to a life of leisure. If I feel that I am starting to miss all the rush hour bumper to bumper chaos, I'll just reach for a beer and turn on the TV traffic channel. All that mess just doesn't seem to bother me anymore; I can just sit here and watch it for hours, or better still, I can use the time to keep in touch through this new Big Mack Trucks forum. (Once I figure this system out.)

I am now retired to the bush country of Northern Ontario, Canada. Take care; drive safe, --- Diesel Gypsy.

The Diesel Gypsy ---When I die, I want to die like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car.

Hi everyone,

I am Jim Morrison and I have been in Montana for a week or so and this is my first time on site. I started building sports cars 15 years ago and moved up to pickup trucks. I told my wife (my lovely Sponsor) after I finished the last truck (a 1950 International L-120 Pickup slightly modified) that I needed a new project. Then, I brought home a 1969 Mack R-600 (single axel) with a Holmes 750 on the back and told her it was a logical progression of my hobby and why heck it still was a two seater! The truck is all apart being sand blasted and slowly......ever so .....slowly being put back together. I live in the Hartford, Ct. area. You guys have helped me with information in the past and this site can't be beat.

Barry,

I just got here and really haven't had time to look around but I like it!

Jim

Howdy, My name is Morgan Heaton, I live in Bloomfield Indiana which is about 60 miles SW of Indy. I have 63' b 61 that I bought to haul my other hobbies around with. I have several old farm tractors that I have been taking to shows, I got tired of hauling them one or two at a time with the pick-up so I bought the mack. Some times I dont unload the tractors off the truck, It just looks like I drove right out of the early sixties, with the mack, 720 and 730 john deeres. My other interrests include my 3 dogs, note the picture of "buck" to the left. I work at a ford dealer as a service tech, mostly on the little diesel pick-ups.

15 gears...no waiting!

Hi folks,

Thought I'd better take a few minutes and introduce myself here, even though I'm already acquainted with several of you.

I'm 51 years old, have been a machinist for about 18 years or so, did maintenance work in a chemical plant for about 10 years before that, and just recently started hauling cars, supposedly part-time, seems to be full-time. I got the truck-bug from my Dad, who was a life-long trucker, starting about 1938 or so. I rode many miles in a B-61 SA tractor when he was hauling cotton around the southeast in the 60's. You know how it is when you're young and you like the smell of that diesel smoke and the rattle of those big hosses. I just never let the dawg out'o the bag till about 3 years ago. Then bought an old rusty H67 Mack.............then another....................then a sweet-running, wonderful sounding, B-61 single-axle that really needs a good cab.................then a '52 Peterbilt that was more than ready to make the 1700 mile trip home from Arizona where I adopted it.

I've been hauling a couple of antique tractors to shows with the B-61 and the Pete over the last couple of summers, but this year have had to abandon the tractor-shows due to work.

Guess that's more'n you care to know about just one more redneck with a love for things that "smoke, rattle, and roll".

I'm Tim Green and my wife and I own my dads 1979 R797S Mack.I found it last year after searching thru DMV records for about 2 yrs.I found it all complete except for the cab.It has the 20,000 front end,44000 Mack rearends on Hendrickson,ENDT866B 375 hp,TRTXL1070 trannyand equipped with a Tulsa winch. My friend Roland Smith found me a '89 cab up in Wisconsin for it.

I am right now recovering from hip replacement surgury and all is well.they will do the other side July 29th.I'm just 41 yrs old and will be glad to get back to work on my trucks.I have been restoring a 1959 White 4264 tractor for the last 10 yrs and I am down to the air and electrical systems, engine accessories and interior. We also own a 1952 WC2864WD Western Diesel White that We bought off of e-bay and I drove home to Harrisonville,Mo.,from Seattle Wa.I will post some pics as soon as I learn how.

Hi, I'm Jim T. from Atlanta,

I work for PAI Industries that some of you may have heard of. PAI is a world wide Mack aftermarket parts manufacturer. I am a department manager in the manufacturing div. My department builds all of our new cylinder heads, water pumps, oil pumps, synchros and more.

A little over a year ago I found a 1964 B61T behind a barn and proposed to the Company to buy the truck and let me do a complete frame off restoration. We then can use the truck at trade shows and dealerships as a marketing tool. It certainly will attract a lot of attention as everyone likes these old trucks. I am not building the truck as a perfect/correct for the year resto. I have built hot rods and fast street/show cars in the years past but this is the first big diesel I have ever done and what a blast it is.

It will be modified slightly with an alternator, ENDT675, etc, etc, etc. In fact I am completely rewiring and replumbing the truck from my imagination, which will not be anything like the original. But it will be very clean with some of the wiring and plumbing hidden from obvious view among a lot of other details.

Any way, I do use this forum for some of my questions and I try to answer some of the other members questions and problems when I think I can help. Thanks Barry and Tom and others.

I will be posting pictures again of my (ever so slow) progress on this project soon.

Thanks Jim T.

Yeah Jim, get those photos up in your gallery! I have seen a few pics that come with the PAI newsletters, but we need more photos! :loldude: Looking good so far!

By the way, you guys can start a new thread each time for your introductions! We got lots of space here, so go ahead and tell us about yourselves and your antique truck projects!
