607t1173 Posted February 26, 2013 Share Posted February 26, 2013 What is the most unusual engine Mack installed in their trucks?I'll start it: I had a Cruiseliner with a 3208 Cat and Allison transmission combo it was a good looking truck,Black exterior, Aluminum wheels, Alum fuel tanks butonce you started the engine it was always good for one thing,and that one thing was a conversation piece and a source of bewilderment from Mack enthusiasts. Don't know exactly when but around the early 70's Fiat bought out, or merged with Allis Chalmers, I think their focus was on construction equipment. Buda diesels made it to a small part of the truck market.I have a Buda diesel power unit; inline 6 about 900+ cid."big Al" and "Alice", that's cool. The Cruiseliner was on display last summer when I was there in June for the Macgunie Show. I was always told you could order any power/drivetrain combo would want ie all mack(gas/diesel/trans/suspension/rears), Detriot, Cummins,Cat, and A/C. Roadrangers and Allison transmissions.
