Always liked them, probably has something to do with being the first truck I rode in when my dad started driving in 66.

The one in the picture is now in Nova Scotia all painted up and waiting for the 12 V 71 to go in.

My plan is to mini lite the visor. The reason to eliminate the top stuff is because I get a lot of water in through the roof and can't find the source.

I would bet on under the vent , there is a rubber seal around the roof vent you can buy online from watts and replace use sealer inside the grooves on the gasket, also under the air scoops thru the bolt holes for the center light, water kinda slows down under there and has more time to elak thru, the small led lights in the visor aint a bad idea.

I just happen to know where a 12V71 is, Im still trying to decide if I want to go get it or pass, it will make me ready for another project truck for sure, wonder if it would fit in an RS700L?

Just for plain ol fun heres some info.

Big truck engine comparison

1- KTA600 Cummins 600hp 18.8L 1150ci

2- 3408 Cat 520hp 18L 1098ci

3- E9 Mack 500hp 16.4L 998ci

4- 12V71 Detroit 450hp 14L 852ci

5- 8v92 Detroit 500hp 12.1L 736ci

dont know why I have this stuff written down but htere ya go some of em arent in the spot most think they are, most think a 12V71 is the biggest but its really a 6cyl inline the KTA600 Cummins, I know I will get crap for these ratings and just so I have my word out there these are as purchased in a truck from the factory U.S. epa ratings, not turned up not off road and not AU.

More importantly , what were the torque ratings?

Think the stock v8 Mack was only 1600ftlbs?
