I always liked this style Autocar with the set-forward axle,you don't see many of them anymore,sharp truck/colors thanks for posting!........................................Mark

I have heard mention amny times (Macks also) about a set back or set forward axle...why was this done? Weight distribution? Turning radius?

Exactly right! many vocational trucks have the steer axle set-back to allow better weight distribution and a better turning radius in tight areas. Where most highway trucks have the axle set-forward where its not such a factor..........................Mark

Byran,

The middle photo is quite the truck, 5 hole steel discs up front & spokes in the rear, low sided heavy box with a off highway type automatic tailgate, then a shiny box cover. The colors look like a Mauro mix, I like the way is sits up in the front.
