My grandfathers old truck originally a single-axle. First time I've gotten yelled at for taking pictures of old truck. Guy starts yelling from other side of tracks "What are you doing?" Taking a picture "No trespassing" i didn't see any signs that said that, last i knew a sign is supposed to be posted every 50 ft but anyways got this and the R-model. There were a bunch of other old trucks there too.

I haven't been yelled at for going in and looking at a truck yet. Haha. Was there any U models?

Pic borrowed from the internet for educational purposes only.

This one may have been a diesel conversion as I thought all S.S. trucks were C65s (no "D" prefix).

I've walked over and looked at this one before. We used to load there at Edgcomb Steel pretty often, north of Philadelphia.

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.

White bought Autocar in 1953 and moved the production from Ardmore PA to Exton Pa. It moved production to Ogden Utah in 1980 or so. Production was stopped in the late 80's. The name was bought by another company and are made in Indiana. Somebody should know the exact dates. Mike

Thanks. I did find that the Autocar name was alive but they only make garbage trucks and a short look showed me they don't carry any parts for the old dinosaurs like mine. Volvo don't carry many either, so I've been trying to find parts sources.

Just bought a 73 Autocar with 318 detroit, 13 speed. cab is a little rough around windshield pillars. My question is will a cab off an 86 fit? I understand doors latches are in dfferent spot. I found a decent cab off 86 and would buy it if it will physically bolt up and line up with hood etc. The newer cab comes with doors so i dont have to change striker plates. Thanks Brian

p.s or if anyone knows of earlier cab for sale? let me know. also wouldnt rule out a parts cab i could cut pieces off and weld in.
