I don't really remember specs. I will try my best. Think it was a 1986 with a 60 series detroit Same truck. I was doing a job in down town Toronto in 1995 This was a 99 model year. New in1998. Had a big cat . Pic is taken in Montreal 1998. I'm the tall guy. Used to tag along for fun. This is a Truck that works for me. 2001 has a big cat,18 speed. Pic taken last May. DD15 powered, 18 speed, 20 and 46 axles, air ride and S.P.I.F. automatic self equalizing steering lift axle. Loaded interior, maple leaf red leather.The other two are at my dealer. I've only been on one job, (a big dig in the local steel mill) where they made us get out of the truck while loading if we didn't have one. I couldn't understand that either.......I would feel safer in the cab, than standing outside in a hardhat, lol.Thanks for the compliment. Bullheaded Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 My Detroit has been bulletproof. But the truck did have a lot of little cosmetic build quality issues. Don't know if mine was built on a bad day, but never had flaws like that in the old ones. Nothing that affected it's performance....just annoyances for what it cost. Like grill bars that had no rivets, and lots of marks and scratches in the interior. Crappy, hard to service cab air filters, and it had the wrong engine fan and rad mounts installed. But the dealer and factory rep replaced those quick. But they weren't concerned about all the flaws in my interior. Maybe I'm too picky?Around here they are same price as a Mack. 41180 Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 We had 2 stars one a 95 with with the small cab a 425 cat with an 8ll nice truck but the kitty cat blew up at 350k about 15k hrs . Our Mack e7 's of the same vintage ran 35 to 40 k hrs and 700k miles. The other star we had was a 01 with the constellation cab 475 cat with a 8ll . He had chain drive Sterling mixers on the road into the seventies. Based on the stuck mixer and the GMC in the background I'd say this picture was from the seventies and they were still using the Sterling and the LJ.
