The General didn't use the Astro cab,and yes the doors are the same. GMC started development of the Astro in 1967,and first produced in 1969.

1977 is correct for the General but probably started deveopmet eariler around the time of the Brockliner.

yep, it was an "all- new Budd built proffessional cab...although the two cabs were different, they had numerous similarities, particularly in windshield style, cowl surfaces at the A-pillars and general shape of their piano-hinged steel doors."

I'm not a GMC expert, I read this in "GMC Heavy Duty Trucks 1927-1987". I always thought it was the same cab.

I drove a solid white '78 Astro in 1979, had a 290 Cummins and 9 speed. Nice trucks, I liked it. Wish I had a picture of it.

i always liked the generals. they were pretty popular in the northeast logging industry. does anyone remember charlie kelton selling gmc general log trucks by the dozens in white river jct vermont. he was a real shister but sold alot of trucks. he even used other peoples credit to get get people with no credit into a new truck . my dad could have bought a brand new general in 1984 with ether cat cummins or detroit power and a new prentice log loader and pup trailer with no money down and he had very little credit history at the time he decided the deal was to good to be true and left keltons. i think they offered him a brand new gmc sierra in the deal as well.

:SMOKIE-LFT: Generals were pretty nice trucks back in the day. I always liked the one Jerry Reed drove in Smokey and the Bandit II. Thinking about that kind of takes me back to my child hood when they built cool trucks and cool movies, and when I was asked what I wanted to do when I grow up I'd tell them I wanted to be a truck driver cause it was a real mans job and it was a cool job. What the heck happened?

They started letting guys like me have CDL's.

I've always liked the Generals and Astros but my only experience with either was riding for one day in a beat to death Astro which was a Ryder rental. Stiil a nice truck with a design that was ahead of it's time.

Yeah, it's a shame GMC trucks got faded away like they did after being one of the very first truck makers and being a "heavy hitter" in the industry for so many years.

I altered a picture I saw on facebook a little, it was a bullnose KW instead of a GMC at first.

The update for Saturday. I ran the name and address through the county tax site and nothing comes up. I have a buddy who's a lawyer who might be able to help me. I am going to drop a note in the mailbox, truck door, and on the camper on the property as well as an office trailer they had there. Hopefully someone will call. While I am there ill try to get the vin off the truck if its open and the year so I can run it through the dmv and see what comes up. I also want to stop by the farm stand still and see if they have any contact info.

my all time favorite youtube video...

The sound of a Jimmy used to be a common one. video looks to be shot up here in Canada I noticed the metric speed limit sign. That intersection looks familiar to me, just can't think of where that is.

It's hard to believe I used to hate that sound.

The owner is from Welland, or thereabouts.

"Nothing Breaks Wind Like A Bulldog"

Yup Ramtown.

I haven't been in Brick in a few years. My daughter lives in Silverton so I have no reason to go there. I know a lot has changed and I was trying to figure out where the pic was taken. Actually my one close friend from up here just moved to the condos right there by Ramtown close to the Wawa by the exit.

This is by the Wawa in Ramtown. I am up the street from the Wawa by the exit on burnt tavern.

Further developments today. I found out who ownes the property. I am sending a letter today and hopefully they will contact me. I ran the name through an Internet search and if I pay money I can get a phone number and email but I'll take the cheap way out first.
