Got a 2006 Dodge P/u w/ 5.9 Cummins. Last nite it would start and then shut down. Several times it did it. Now won't even start. Turns over fine. shows a 10 code

Did change the fuel filter and looked around. Didn't see anything unusual

Got the correct code- P2509, low voltage condition mainly.

Randy, the oil was the first thing I checked along with the coolant level

The boy was like umm....I don't know. Gotta work on his boat and spend time with his woman

Having any tools not at home is a bitch

With a low voltage code id check my batteries, you have to have at least 11.2 v to run the ecm. Sounds like a Lift pump hard start is a symptom, been there you need 10-14 psi at the back of that vp44 injection pump or you'll trash it. Most of the time the lift pump goes down and you don't notice because it will still run just won't have the same power, then the injection pump goes down because its not built to draw fuel from the tank. Get a guage in there and check the pressure at the back of the injection pump.

UPDATE-changed both batteries and all is fine now.

One battery was shot, the other about 3/4

Thanks all for your help........except that ackers guy

Need to put a mechanical motor in there. atleast mine once you jump it off if the batteries are dead it will run. Just won't restart
