Many,many AC's were repowered through the years so they could keep working.Which would be worse,an original engine that didn't run or a refit that ran so you could get out and drive and enjoy the truck???

My Grandad re-powered his AK with a govt. supplied GMC inline six during WWII,as no Mack engines and very few parts were available,and the farm was considered an essential service to the war effort. Pop said the GMC was ALMOST as good as the Mack 6 (the same one went into Duece and a Halfs) only problem he told me about was it (the GMC) was harder to keep cool,due to the smaller radiator in the AK. The truck ran all the way up into the seventies,after it was sold to a drayage company at the port of Camden,NJ.......................Mark
