Hey Ken

Just a little reminder when you unhook, assuming your MH is air ride, drop the air out of the suspension (if you want to keep your rear crossmember straight). When you crank the landing gear down on the trailer, keep it about an inch off the ground, and just before you pull out, dump the air on the rear suspension, and pull out real easy.

Dave,

MH is spring rear suspension.

Trailer is in Altoona already! Dang I need to get my A$$ in gear!!! gerg.gif

This morning I connected the batteries in the MH and it started after about 2 revolutions. Built up air pressure, moved it back and forth a few times, shutdown, and drained tanks. Whew....alot of work in one day for an old fart.

Then after lunch I drove by the ODFL terminal. There sitting all alone was the trailer. Looks just as good as it does in the AZ pictures.

Another fifth wheel question...is there any lubrication needed on the locking mechanism or pivot?

So when do you bring it home? I want to see the combo hooked up!

Hopefully this week if it ever stops raining. I am anxious to do my first hookup....with the trailer that is. And there will be pics.

There should be grease fitting on the pivot. make sure some on the top too

I looked tonight and I cannot see any grease fittings on the fifth wheel pivot or underneath. I scraped some of the hard old grease out of the grooves and will apply a coating of fresh grease before I leave.

Going Tuesday morning to pickup the trailer...pics to follow.

Nice looking combo Ken. Are you going to bring the whole thing to Macungie next month?

Thanks! I am giving it serious consideration. Another "virgin" experience. I am going to pull it around locally for a few weeks and then decide. So far so good!

BTW, I counted at least 25 funiture pads.

You'll need new tires by the end of the week hitting all those curbs. Hahahahahaha just kiddin.

No curbs in the country. Just low hanging trees on the road to my farm.

Oh I see. Cruising the back roads. That's what I like to do. I took a chunk out of my U model tire and a curb before...Papa has a culvert and I got a little to close to the edge where the curb was..... That was awhile ago.

looks like a bread truck to me.

And you took the word of a dispatcher too!

Glad you got it home. The drama was killing me

I don't want to gloat but I "nailed" it on the first try...beginners luck? Thanks to all the BMT members for their excellent instructions. Watching porn videos on the interweb helped too. It did however take three (3) tries to back it 90 degrees from the narrow side road into the barnyard (there is about 15' between a stump and a block building. I think the stump is going to be history soon.

Ken - duh what do I do?

Dispatcher - I think you back it up until it stops. Then pull forward about 3 feet and if the trailer does not come unhooked you are good to go. Don't worry about the landing gear and tire skid marks.

Previous owner was Robb and Stucky Fine Funiture. I was told they went bankrupt.
