If they have a steel nose aren't they a RD? What does RM have to do with it?

All RMs have steel nose and yes if its short steel nosed its most likely a RD but all RD800s have steel but those have long noses. Back in the '70s all R-models with plows had steel noses, then in the '80s they came out with the butterfly fiberglass. I think we need the book from mack that shows all the different models and what the differences are

ok i get it, anything with with an offset cab and steel nose is a DM, anything with a centered cab and steel nose is a RD, anything with an offset cab and fiberglass nose is a U and anything with a centered cab and fiberglass nose is an R Model

DM600's had fiberglass noses too Paul. Some had short stell noses.

centered cab set forward axle, steel or fiberglass hood is and R, long hood R is and RL, long wide hood is an RW long steel hood is an RD800, steel hood set back axle (most) all wheel drive RM, set back axle center cab fiberglass hood RB, offset cab set forward axle short fiberglass hood light duty is a U, offset cab short hood set forward axle heavy duty is a DM, longer fiberglass hood slightly setback axle offset cab is later model DM, offset cab long steel hood heavy duty is a DM800, tall short fiberglass hood high mounted offset cab set back axle or dual steer axle in std or all wheel drive would be a DMM, tall short fiberglass hood high mounted offset cab tandem steer all wheel drive heavy duty would be a DMMEX. I think I got most of em theres still the RS and then the RWS and RWL etc........
