Popular Post farmer52 Posted June 16, 2013 Popular Post Share Posted June 16, 2013 Had a couple "puckers" and an "aw shit" on the way back to the farm on Sunday morning...Pucker #1Cruising south on I81 just north of Harrisburg. Speed limit in the area is 65mph and I was going about 60mph. State Police sitting in the median. I drove by and looked in my mirror...damn if he didn't pull out and follow me for couple miles then blew by me. Whew!Pucker #2As I passed through the toll booth at Breezewood I was flagged over by the DOT Inspector. I parked as far away from the booth as possible. What seemed like an eternity, he finally walked up next to me giving the trailer and truck a close look. He asked "what is this exemption?". I explained the MH is a show truck and I just came from a truck show in Macungie. He gave the truck another once over and I could read his mind "show truck...where is all the polished chrome?" While he was looking I told him the truck was a private vehicle and not for hire. It is a hobby and I take it to shows. Finally he asked "Do you get trophys or prize money at these shows?" I was actually impressed he knew the meaning of the exemption. I told him "no sir, it is for fun". Another "are you f'in' crazy" look and then he said "have a good day" and turned and walked away. Whew...2 puckers in one day...I just hope my shorts aren't stained. My "aw shit" came in Breezewood. I was sitting at a signal light waiting for what seemed like an eternity for it to change to green. I spied a good Diesel fuel price and decided to make a right turn and get fuel. Well I thought I had enough room to make the turn. As I was turning, I "kissed" the curb with my right rear trailer tire. The more seat time you get it'll all get easier as you go, you won't even think about judging a turn,it'll just come naturally.No I have to disagree with the seat time thing. Actually the more seat time will give you hemroids and you will hit more curbs and will mess up your whole dog gone day. Maddog13407 Posted June 17, 2013 Share Posted June 17, 2013 I had a few aw shits on the way to Macungie and back myself. seems cars cant figure that you cant stop on a dime and I hate when they come in the merge lane doin 75mph and expect you to yield to THEM. on the way down the roads were wet and we were going thru Cooperstown Ny following a car , I was about 3-4 car lengths behing and we come around a corner and there was a mudslide in the road from the one week of rain. well he nails the braks and stops dead in his tracks and my 4 car lengths turn into 0 and I locked them up, front wheels slide and back tires are smokein, but we didn't collide, phew!, onward to Macungie. also yesterday comin from the show on 100 before you get off the exit I was following an AC Mack back to the hotel, he was giving it its all doing about 35 and some asshole in a ford diesel dually with stacks is riding my ass flashin his headlites as me, makes me wish I had a 10 foot pole welded straight out from my rear crossmember.
