Not sure why the nickname "pot" for a cattle trailer.........but this city boy has heard it before and picked up on it. Maybe Mike will fill us in on the reason?

Not sure why is it called an Amercian Pot but...

Most of us old country farts never had indoor plumbing (bathroom with shitter). We had an outhouse (usually a two-holer just in case someone else needed it while you were in there). In the middle of the night (especially winter) you did not want to be tripping to the outhouse to "take care of business". A "pot" was something used in the house that you did your "business" in. It was usually a decorative ceramic large container with a lid. You emptied and cleaned it each day. Us poor folks just used a galvanized bucket.

I thought they called that a chamber pot, lol but good explanation. :loldude:
