1200 miles down the roads of NY and PA.

Hi folks,

Today is my 5th day at home, it looks like the life is going to go its usual way and I have a bit of free time to tell much about my stay in the US.

I think most of you remember that I first came into NYC and spent a couple of days there walking the streets. Also I met a friend of mine who lives there since 1996 and I haven't seen him since 1996 too. He was doing fine though keeping his habit to drive a car with a stick.

My next point was Allentown where Randy Y (1958 F.W.D.) met us and took all the care about me and my son for all the Macungie show and much more.

I see no reason to post Macungie pics here, hope many of you saw it in person and those who didn't had a chance to look over them online.

Although the weekend didn't end with the show, we had a nice Sunday looking Gary Mahan collection with a company of Randy Y and the couple of Dutch guys who are our members. It was really great to see so many unique Macks and many of them in superb restored condition. Scrap metal in the back yard had also its beauty to be looked over.

 

 

 

 

 

After so many truck related events I wanted to relax my son so we spent a day in Dorney park. There was the area with dinosaurus wich were made of their actual size and able to make movements. Some of them were too realistic.

 

Being ended up with the park we vent a hundred miles with a rental car to the city of Strasburg and stayed overnight in Red Caboose Hotel wich is actually the wagons on rails with comfortable rooms inside. A bit more expensive than common hotel but it was nice to be woked up with a sound of a steam loc's horn wich drove right in a hundred yards from your window.

 

 

 

Next day was for Strasburg rail road and museum. I noted the model of covered bridge in some of RR diaramas and enjoyed it.

Many Amish people carriges (Baggies) took part in the scenary. I mean real ones, not of the diarama.

The rest of the day and the next one were spent to make a trip to Niagara falls. I was going to cross Appalaches and did many miles along local roads to see more environment. Many times a nature was mixed with Mack trucks down the road.

I made many shots of the falls being there at the evening time also. Special lights from the Canadian side made water flow colorful in the darkness.

My back way headed to Connecticut but took a half hundred local miles again. I saw hitchkiking girl old Brockway by the way but hadn't time to stop. Although just after a couple of miles I saw so much rusty iron on the right side by my way so stopped and made a U-turn.

There was a bunch of stuff including too early units and a shop with guys near it. I walked to and asked permission for look and photo.

The guy comed to be too friendly. I said that my interest is old Macks, and he answered "There was a big show in Pennsilvania just this past weekend and I was there". We laughed. His name was Frank Rose Jr. and he said it would be Ok to popularize his hobby on BMT. Here you go:

Next day I got my path to Matt Pfahl. He is really the great guy, we had a talk above a half of a day. Lots of interesting stuff, the back yard is full of countless treasures.

On our last day we looked over Old Mistic seaport museum in Connecticut. Nice place and too historical.

We had a plane from JFK in the evening so I made 200 miles back being tight in a time and in the traffic also. Everything vent good though.

As you can see I made many things in two weeks and tried to see as much of the country as I could.

Now I have a feel that I got many things in common but when I look over the map it seems to me as a little bit of the great land wich North America is. The only idea on this matter - many hopes to continue in the future.

Great pics Vlad. The wife and I stayed in Lancaster PA and went to the train museum a few years ago. Great place. She told me her family stayed in one of those caboose's when she and her brother were young. I am glad you got to see so much when you were here. Any plans on coming back next year?

Yes, I really liked to see such hidden secrets of America as old and rusty Macks were.

As for the mixer truck it's better to google "Gary Mahan collection" or look in the "Wiki Support" of the site. There are great trucks and many of them. I just saw no sence to put them all here on.

At the moment I'm not so ambicious to make big plans. The next event on my list is Dutch Mack show in October.

Don't forget, it's also a bit less than 2000 miles from my location.

As for your beautiful country I see no hard trouble, it's just a question of time and allmighty green stuff. Let's hope.

By the word I saw you down the road in I-85 right in about 100 miles from Rose being heading East.

Ilya looked over the road all the time during the trip and hoped to see Superliner.

The only one we saw was the green with gold strips carried concrete tank.

Nobody could mistake the outlook of that truck.

It was too nice to see you and too sorry to not see other RW's down the roads.

You are exactly correct Vlad, makes you sit down and wonder when so many people are living their life with false security. They would go off the deep end if they ever realized it doesn't exist. And JT you are correct and once analyzed is probably the quote of the year at the very least. Paul
