Deere Mack Posted July 4, 2013 Share Posted July 4, 2013 HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!Looking for some good tips on the best way to clean a rusty hydraulic tank. I've been watching video's of people putting small pebbles/sand in the tank and strapping them to tractor wheel that's up off the ground. Put the tractor in gear and letting the pebbles polish the inside of the tank. Some of them are quite funny, but seems to work? JerryB Posted July 15, 2013 Share Posted July 15, 2013 I never tried pebbles. I use a sack of playground sand and spin it like you describe works really good. The trick is to let it turn slow and don't get in a hurry. Much easier than trying to clean sand out of there. JerryB Posted July 16, 2013 Share Posted July 16, 2013 Good point JTF but I never had any problem at all getting sand out. Just a couple of shots with and air nozzle and its clean except for a tad of dust sometimes.I use the steam cleaner for the final touch so the the tank dries itself then it's ready to go.
