paul roncetti Posted July 6, 2013 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Also by the sound of it, when they changed the route (after some nut unloaded 70 rounds on the normal parade route earlier in the day), to go downhill into a right hand turn its very possible the Fire truck was not at fault because the tractor driver may have been thrown into the truck when the tractor took too sharp a turn and tipped over. My speculation is the driver was distracted by the engine failure, if that is what occurred.Many of the early rigs had mechanical brakes, often rear wheel only, which were problematic to say the least. Basically, brake pressure was dependent on how hard you could push the pedal to retract a cable that pulled on the shoes.
