FOR SALE 1971 Mack CF Aerialscope

1971 Mack CF Aerialscope from the Don Costin Estate. This apparatus was originally owned by the Baldwin, LI, NY Fire Department, was purchased and refurbed by the Lynnfield, MA Fire Department. Has Mack Diesel and Allison 740 from a 1979 CF Mack, installed by Lawrence Mack. Original apparatus body was removed and replaced with an aluminum body by Greenwood Fire Apparatus. Truck runs and drives. Includes a full complement of aluminum ground ladders, bell, Federal Q siren and all warning lights. New apparatus body in good shape, some rust starting to show on Mack body portion of the apparatus. All tires are in excellent condition. Truck is in Wenham, MA Asking price is $4250.

Beautiful truck. How long has it been sitting out? Is the gold leaf paint or tape? How does the aerial work? Do you have the serial number? I assume it is a 237. Is that the case? I don't have any room to put it inside. Mike

Hi Mike: Don kept them out for the summer and stored inside for the winter. Think the gold leaf is on vinyl, some is regular leaf. Not sure, think the replacement motor was a 285 or 300. Serial number is CF685FAP1199. Aerial worked when it was sold, don't think much has changed. You need to build a steel building, about 50 x 75 should do but I don't know with the size of your fleet.

I am jealous Mike. But as the saying goes....it is never big enough. I would settle for a 40x60x14.

Wow. Can't imagine what the original purchase price was, but for $4250 I think it's a steal!!!! Wish I had a reason(or place) for it.

I live right next to Baldwin the original owner. Baldwin for a time ran 2 Mack Tower Ladders this one and a 95 foot they still have . The 95 footer is I believe a 1991 one of the last and has an enclosed cab which you don't see on many aerials copes . There had to be 25 of them in service on the south shore of LI in the 80s. My dept sold our 1986 Mack FDNY spec tower ladder to Montgomery NY 3 years ago for I believe $50,000.00 so what there asking for this is cheap

My Department (Lynnfield) has had a long friendship with Truck 2 of Baldwin since we bought their 1956 American laFrance aerial which was our first aerial. They are a first-class Department and have always had outstanding equipment. They still have their Ahrens-Fox HT 1200 gpm pumper in service, a beautiful rig! It is my understanding that they are in the preliminary stages of replacing Truck 2 (The Mack 95') which will be a great truck for some lucky department. Their Truck 1 was one of the first aerialscopes on the Island and saw a lot of fire duty during the busy days of the 1970's.

Alright----make it an addition of 75 x 50. You need this truck for the fleet!!

Paul Baldwin FD is a class operation . I have worked along side them many times when we called them to relocate to us when the beach was burning. I do have a picture of the last Mack tower ladders in service taken about 6 years ago when we still had ours. Hard to believe 207 is the last one standing when there were so many

And its a shame that all the trucks now are these boxy square edge trucks with no character. Even though the cf is boxy but at least it was a good looking boxy truck
