Is that a Mercury or something like that? I cant remember but they were all the rage I think there was an old Autocar round here with one and it was Stainless not aluminum sides.

Ohhh thats even better i thought it looked like SS but i figured it was just new aluminum. Defiantly pretty ill have to do some research and see if there are any around to be had.

Ya it will have a look all its own and anyone who takes a truck thats a little "off" to start with and put a sleeper on it has to be a little "off" himself LOL

Well off to the junk yard in the morning to demixer the dm took a few parts off that a local company wanted. Ill post some pics of the mixer-ectomy

Jim I remember a lot of GMC 9500's with sleepers on them coming down from Canada. The U model is unique especially for Thiabult Trans there. I remember them having a lot of Internationals.

Well the dm had its mixer-ectomy and lost 7220lbs. Now to get going on getting my parts together to make her a tractor.

Ive had 1975 with the same specs you could put springs with that trunnion but go with steel bonded spring saddles 600.00+each.

Well my plan is to get the f model i posted about and just use the whole rear of the frame sence im going to be single framing my truck because of inner frame rust and the f already has springs and the fifth wheel and i figure a lil higher gearing too

Does the F have the deep channel frame like the DM?

I beleave so havent measured them but just looking i beleave there the same size

If the cab was better id just keep it and use it as a tractor but i think just from what ive seen the is to far gone. If i get her ill post some more detailed pics

Ok well I decided to make the dm useful. Sense my venture of turning it into a sleeper tractor is going to take a while to find all the right things i want cause lets face it mercury sleepers are not a common item. But anyway i found a old gas IH at the junkyard that had a good flatbed, so after some discussions with the manager we settled on a price i could live with and i went and picked it up today. Now i can actually use the truck while i collect my conversion parts

Yes i am gonna paint her, not sure that color yet im thinkin either a original vintage style paint scheme or the red white and blue scheme
